Duke Homestead is a historic site within the town of Durham, North Carolina. Duke Homestead itself used to be a 19th century tobacco factory that now acts as a museum with guided tours and a picnic area. Right around the corner, there are plenty of places to go out for food and drink. Restaurants in the area include Gocciolina, Tokyo Express, Hog Heaven Bar-B-Q, and Greek Cuisine. Bars in the area include Rudino's Bull City, Lobby Bar, and Bull Durham Bar.

Closeby, the Museum of Life and Science features an indoor and outdoor museum with interactive exhibits. Their visitors can explore life on earth and learn more about the science that surrounds us everyday. Duke Homestead is a great area to live with a variety of lively attractions. As it is close to Duke University, it offers a very easy commute to and from classes.

To be completely honest, it is not the safest neighborhood in Durham. There have been car break ins and our house was broken into when we first moved in (we hadn’t set up the alarm yet, haven’t had a problem since). That being said, we walk our dogs every night and our neighborhood watch is quite diligent. I’ve never felt unsafe.

2803 Duke Homestead Rd
It's not a fancy side of town but I don't need fancy while I'm in school. It's the Northside of Durham which is slowly transitioning. The complex is well kept with the exception of the front gate (always broken). The pool and gym are average and could use some updating but I still use them sometimes. The people are nice and the neighbors are a mix of singles, families, students, etc. Overall, it is a quiet neighborhood. There is a walking trail behind the complex which is really nice.

Discovery on Broad
There are many great shopping and food options, plus downtown Durham and 9th Street are not too far away. Some parts of the area outside of the apartment complex seem to be a little unclean, but overall it is quiet.
