A Comfortable and Quiet Place to Live

10 management rating Reviewed by on

West Lofts is a comfortable and unique place to live and has the added benefit of a gym (though the gym equipment could use some updating). The building itself is quiet which makes it conducive to studying. Pet fees are only $10 per month, making having an animal affordable. Each apartment has its own central air system and fully controllable thermostat. Appliances in the apartments are all relatively new and there have been absolutely no pest problems. While the rent is slightly higher than what I would prefer to be paying, overall I think the value for the space I have is worth it.

Safe surroundings

I think this building is exactly what I need for right now in my life. I’m living in a studio which is enough space and since it has high ceiling I do not feel claustrophobic. Neighbors are nice and the staff is very friendly. I can walk to campus and the 21 and 42 buses are 1 block away. It’s not perfect - I’d like to have parking, but keeping my costs low was a priority and I haven’t had issues with parking on the street. I would have liked to know that the building was expanding and that construction would be going on for my entire stay, but it’s been manageable and if I need quiet I can run to campus. Overall I feel safe and comfortable here.

Apartments on Ridge

7 management rating Reviewed by on

We've had a great experience so far! The neighborhood is generally quiet, and the staff has been receptive to feedback and requests. The building maintenance guy, Wyatt, is super friendly and helpful, and he's worked on all of our requests within a few days. Parking and a number of utilities are included, and the building includes a small gym and work space as well! An added bonus is that CVS and Wawa are right next door, although once in a while it can be loud during the night as a result.

Quiet Apartment complex with nice neighbors

7 management rating Reviewed by on

I really enjoy living at this complex. All of my neighbors are families, couples or older people and everyone leads a quiet lifestyle. It is nice to study at my apartment at any time of the day. I enjoy the sidewalks that allow you to walk throughout the day. The main area has a gym, swimming pool, and lounge. The apartment has a tennis court, basketball court, and a community garden. It is tucked away, so there is not much traffic noise. It is very close to all the grocery stores and shopping. I was able to get a renovated apartment which is beautiful. It has a nice modern look to it and it is very spacious. The windows allow a lot of light in and the balcony is nice to sit outside and read/have a cup of coffee. The company that owns it is very on top of it, they send us emails to keep us updated and the maintenance team is quick to respond.

Unique and Cheap

7 management rating Reviewed by on

I have loved living at West Lofts. While a little bit further from campus, the 15 foot windows give me tons of natural light and the loft space is very unique. The building is the old West Philadelphia high school. I love the exposed brick, iron staircase, and the very high ceilings. We pay a flat rate of $25 a month for water and also pay electric via the online portal. The building is wired for Verizon internet so you choose your own package when you move in. It is a pet friendly building with no dog breed restrictions, and there is a fenced in area on the side of the building used as a dog park. There is a gym in the building but the equipment is slightly dated. 1 bedrooms do not have in unit laundry (2 and 3 bedrooms do) but there is a laundry room on the first floor. Each floor has a trash room with a garbage shoot and recycling bin. There is a bike storage room on the first floor and a doorman 24/7 (building is accessible by key fob). There is a package room only accessible via key that the doorman keeps. The lobby space also has a tv, ping pong table, pool table, and foosball. There is free street parking on most of the block with permit parking (zone 2) across the street.

Convenient and affordable but constantly under construction

5 management rating Reviewed by on

The apartment is in a great location: close to the law school, 46th street station, and several bus stops. The exposed brick and original wood floors are beautiful. Our biggest complaint is that it seems like the units were rushed to be move-in ready, and the construction is shoddy. Our ceilings leak (management provided buckets but is not doing anything to address the leaks), small rocks fall from the ceiling, and blinds/door knobs/drawers fall off regularly. There is also constantly construction noise as the second half of the building is being finished, which was fine until the pandemic hit and we needed to work from home (the construction noise is distracting to us and noticeable to others on Zoom/conference calls). With that said, we are happy with the price we pay for a 2-bedroom, 2-bath apartment in a secure building with amenities (gym, 24/7 concierge).

Nice but overpriced

7 management rating Reviewed by on

Living at the Station at Manayunk has been mixed. The proximity to the Manayunk/Norristown Septa Regional Rail line is the best feature, only 15 steps out of my front door. The apartment is nice, but is overpriced. Although there is parking for residents, it can be difficult to find a spot during weekday evenings. Management is good and maintenance is completed in a timely manner.

Cool, modern apartment

8 management rating Reviewed by on

I love my apartment! The interior is basically brand new and very modern. Black marble-like counter tops, black cabinets, and white appliances. The carpets are average soft texture and clean (gray colored). There is a pool with active lifeguard when open and it's not foggy or dirty except for the occasional bug or leaf. There is gated parking for residents (included in rent) and plenty of street space for guests. Management is around during normal business hours Mon-Fri and every other Saturday and the maintenance people are on-call for emergencies. Utilities and cable (provided by Comcast) is included in rent. The outside might not be the 'most luxurious-looking' but the inside makes up for it. The buses are within walking distance and take you all over Philadelphia and even to Plymouth Meeting Mall. The regional rail is a 5 minute drive and takes you to Center City in 15-20 minutes. Along Henry Ave and walking distance to Ridge Ave. It's a long walk from Main St. Manayunk but doable if you're dedicated - definitely close driving distance or cheap cab ride away. No regrets yet!

Great Apartment Building

8 management rating Reviewed by on

I am more than happy with my apartment at the Dupont Towers. It was renovated 1 year ago and still looks brand new. I have a washer and dryer. You cannot hear the neighbors through the walls or ceiling. Parking is easy to find. Steven, the handy man, is nice and super attentive. Overall, I love my apartment and plan on living her for another year or 2 while i'm in school.

Great place

I have lived here for 4 years now and just signed a lease for my 5th year. The value is outstanding for the size. Maintenance and management are very responsive. My unit is not an updated unit but it's still very nice. New appliances, white walls tan carpet style. I'm happy to be living here!

Good location

3 management rating Reviewed by on

The location next to SEPTA makes accessing center city very convenient but you do hear the trains. Only a short walk to bars and restaurants on Manayunk's Main Street. I enjoy living in a new building. Heating/cooling bill is very low. On the down side, we have had lots of electrical problems. The original contractors did a sloppy job.

New construction close to transit with poor management

4 management rating Reviewed by on

The station at manayunk is a new construction with great finishes. The direct access to the Ivy Ridge Septa station is very convenient but also noisy at the same time. You sort of get used to the train noise but it is still very noticeable. Management has changed multiple times in the 1.5 years we've been here. Their responsiveness has declined considerably. I love the fact that the apartment is so close to the towpath and SRT trails.

Good Enough

1 management rating Reviewed by on

The management changes every couple of months- some were good, some were bad. Now that construction is almost over it is better. No more noise until midnight and water always off. They still do odd things like "losing" everyones keys. They also sent us multiple eviction notices and then apologized each time- but the sent another the next month with a late fee. And then there were those 6 gas leaks one week.
