Good condo, excellent location, terrible landlord

For the location and size, the rent is very reasonable. I just happen to have a landlord who is very difficult to reason with. Student legal services has been very helpful.

Close to Med School

The best thing about Neilson Condos is their proximity to the med school and hospital (10-15min walk!). They're also close to beautiful running/biking trails along the Huron River. Finally, the included parking is great. The main drawback is the slightly longer walk to down town (20-30 min).

1063 freesia court

Cribspot is not a great landlord and did not take care of the space prior to our move-in.

Great condo, bad landlord

The condo is relatively new with lots of light and space. Spacious kitchen, big closets. Air conditioned and close the medical campus. However, the landlord, Bhavna Patel, takes a long time (weeks to months) to fix things, if she fixes them at all. She also has a history with Student Legal Services because some previous tenants have had trouble getting their security deposit back. She owns 4 units in Nielsen. Be warned.

Nielsen Condos are great!

Pros:
-We have a bigger unit (~1800 sq ft. I believe) that is rented to us by the owner, so our unit is pretty cheap in comparison to the Nielsen condos that are leased out by property managers
-Location is close to the hospital; Kerrytown is closer to downtown, but Uber is fine when going downtown for nightlife from Nielsen
-All living areas are spacious
-We have heating and A/C
-Surrounded by medical students (I guess you can decide if this is a pro or con)
-2 garage spots
-Our landlord is pretty great

Cons:
-Parking. Even if you have a guest pass, you aren't really guaranteed parking in the lot, so if you come home late at night you may have to park on the street outside the Wall Street garage. The lines on the lot also aren't painted, so there are times that multiple spots are lost crooked parking. And if you do have guests, there isn't really parking for them if you already use the guest pass for your own car. This is problematic only during the day, since at night guests can park on the street outside Wall Street or one of Kellogg's open lots.
-Experience depends on your landlord. These are independently-owned condos, so if you have a bad landlord, you might have a bad experience.

Nielsen 3-BR

No natural light, pricey because of hardwood floors, being taken over by CribSpot and monthly rent is increasing as a result.

Nielsen Condos

Great location, close to the hospital! They are spacious and offer a lot of natural sunlight, can be expensive and hard to find though.

Perfect for Medical Studemts and Residents

This is a very comfortable place to live that is in a great location. It is across the street from the eye center and 0.3 miles from the main medical complex. It is in the middle of the white coat area, so there are a lot of friends and classmates around. It is also right next to the Huron river, parks, and arboretum.

Bright, nice space right next to the med school.

Living in Neilson is great because school is so close! It's a 10-15 min walk, which is great for going in late on the weekends to quiz, or coming home for a run in between required activities. The buildings are new and nice, with lots of light and generally great insides (appliances, layout etc). Lots of med students near by give the opportunity to socialize easily. It's next to the beautiful river and excellent paved fitness trails. Drawback: since it's a farther from downtown than some other popular areas, it's easy to feel stuck inside the medical school bubble unless you make an effort to get out and about! Other than that, it's great.

Nielson Condos

Great location to walk to the medical school. No visitor parking, which is difficult during the week, but the UM parking lots are open on Saturdays and Sundays.
