Close to campus and amazing management

The apartment experience has been wonderful! Parking is secure and free for tenants and guests. Gym and pool are average but included within rent. I love that there are sidewalks to walk on around the property with a ton of greenery, so it feels like a little neighborhood. Dog parks and valet trash are also included in rent. Management is responsive and helpful. It's a 10-15 min drive to school. The only reason I haven't ranked it higher is because it's rather far from night life on the weekends, but my priority was being closer to school.

Residential and wooded area, convenient location

<5 minute drive to Target, Publix, Kroger, Starbucks, and various restaurants
~8 minute drive to law school (scenic drive down Houston Mills road)
Large complex that is great for walking dogs with various grills / meeting areas
Good value for $ per square foot
I would try to live on the top floor to avoid the sound of neighbors walking above you (rarely an issue, but sometimes)
Had a small cockroach issue, but management was responsive and the problem went away after my door was resealed and I started closing my kitchen sink drain.

Not bad

This apartment seems a little overpriced with the way that maintenance isn’t always on top of things. There are gates but they are never working properly. It isn’t near a shuttle stop which is unfortunate

Madison Druid Hills

The apartment is nice and renovated. It's a big space for how much we pay. It's also nice because there are lots of trees around and it's not in the middle of the big city bustle. It's right down the road from Toco Hills so we have grocery stores, restaurants, everything you need right where we are. There's plenty of parking so it's easy to have guests over. There's a big pool, gym, dog park, tennis court.

It takes me anywhere from 15-45 mins to get to Grady depending on traffic, and about 10 mins to get to EUH.

Negatives: the phone service is absolute garbage. When I am on call, I literally have to get in my car and drive away from my apartment to return pages. The staff/maintenance are also super slow to respond to any issues when I call.

Overall, I think my husband and I will stay throughout residency because we like the apartment, it's close to Emory, it's affordable, and we hate moving.

Great Value, Fine Apartment

Conveniently located between Toco Hills shopping center and I-85, this complex allows easy access to other areas of Atlanta for a fair price. The apartment I rent has decent appliances, spacious living space, and walk-in closets. The complex has a nice pool and gym. Only main draw backs are the finishes on some carryover bits in the closet & bathtub and pests -
but in GA you've got to expect that. Slow to respond to maintenance requests, also, but they've had a backlog from the previous management. Madison Druid Hills recently had a change in management, and the new group has taken strides to improve the complex's physical appearance, overall functioning, and social environment.

I recommend!

Very well located community. Close to several supermarkets, drugstores, convenience stores.
The buildings are far from each other, and the complex has trees and gardens all around. Very quiet and peaceful too.
It is a gated community, with a pleasant office to work, big swimming pool and gym. It also has two laundry centers, which is a good convinenience.
15 minutes by car to B-school, 20 minutes walking to shuttle service.
I live with my wife and 2 daughters and we are very happy with our housing choice.

Convenient to emory, affordable

We have had a good experience at Viera. Management is fairly good, grounds are nice and relatively affordable. Not really social, however.

Viera Briarcliff

Good building, very good location, recently renovated. Management has been slow to respond to maintenance requests, and was very misleading / improperly explained the move out process when I had to leave the apartment early. This cost me additional fees during move out because it was improperly communicated.

Break Our Lease

We had to break our lease at Viera Briarcliff before the regularly scheduled date because of the aggressive dogs (which run off-leash) in the neighborhood. ... We have experienced three water main breaks in the short time we have lived at Viera Briarcliff along with 4 management changes

Getting around North Druid Hills

North Druid Hills Reviews

150 reviews
It's a prime location for getting around the city! I can get to midtown, Decatur, inman park, etc. in about a 20 min drive or less. The drive to school each morning is about 10-15 mins with little to no traffic. The area is safe with tons of restaurants and shopping. The only downside is that it's not close to any prime nightlife scene, but Ubers aren't too expensive. Incredibly safe which is something I was looking for as a woman living alone. There's no perfect place, but for the amount of space I have (850 sq ft), safety, proximity to school, and easy access to other areas in the city, it can't be beat.
North Druid Hills is a lovely neighborhood and one that I am happy to be living in as my first exposure to Atlanta. There are beautiful tree lined streets and its proximity to Emory is a great selling point.
Beautiful houses and trees, calm, quiet community.
It's an open area with trees. Very close to Emory campus as well as the Toco Hills plaza (Kroger, Publix, many restaurants). Further down Clairmont at the intersection with North Decatur road, there's another Publix as well as some other restaurants in the plaza.

Golden Drop Cafe--which has outdoor seating incase the pandemic is still uncontrolled when you read this--is just 3 min. down the road. Mason Mill Park, which has tennis courts, a pavillion, and walking trails, is also very near.
Very convenient location as far being somewhat close to a lot of different areas though it itself isn't where the night life or all the best restaurant areas are. Lots of grocery options very close by, including Whole Foods, Krogers and Publix.
My wife and I love walking through the beautiful homes in the local neighborhood. It is a very safe area even at night.
You can find any type of store or restaurant that you would ever need within a 5-15 minute drive.
My wife and I go on walks around sunset most nights through the neighborhood. Have never felt unsafe. Neighbors are all very friendly along our walks. Lots of beautiful homes to gawk at.
