Convenient spot for GBS students

Highland Lake is a good spot for Goizueta students. The Emory bus picks up & drops off right nearby, although a car would be ideal.

Highland Lake Review

Highland Lake was a great place for me because I lived there during my las t year of college and it was close enough that it was within walking distance of Emory University's Clairmont campus, which I would walk to each day and take the bus to the main campus.

I shared my two bedroom apartment with a couple of grad students, and it was roomy for the three of us. The saving grace was that I had my own bedroom, a good sized closet and my own bathroom. Basically, we were ships passing in the night - they did their thing, I did mine and everyone got along well that way.

Then after graduation, I didn't yet have a full-time job, so I moved into another apartment in Highland Lake (exact same floor layout and all) with another girl who was still a junior at Emory. I ended up getting a job a few months after that and saving up enough to get my own place almost a year after we first started rooming together, and again, it was an ok experience.

My complaint would be the walls (and floors) were thin - my downstairs neighbor from hell came up and yelled at me (and went as far as calling the police on me) when I used to workout in my bedroom before work early in the morning. Also, the management company people weren't the easiest to deal with.

This was good for the price (i.e. no money since a college student), but I wasn't at all sad to move out of this place as soon as I could afford it.

Good quality for price

Overall, I've been happy living in the Highland Lake complex. However, it's taken them a long time to fix certain facilities (for instance, their second pool was shut down last summer and it still hasn't reopened). Additionally, their gate access system needs to be modernized to be competitive with other apartments in the area. On the plus side, though, their maintenance staff is very good and respond very quickly to major issues.
