Apartment is great! Very quiet and beautiful floor plan. Management is very responsive. Small pest problem that was taken care of very quickly. Only downside is that the apartment gym is very small.

Pretty good, no mayor problems
The building is nice, relatively new, and clean. The neighbors don't bother that much, the building is really safe (no issues so far) and the maintenance service is quick and effective.

Proximity to Downtown is Key
The management at Whetstone is very responsive, the location is absolutely perfect (close proximity to restaurants, DPAC, the American Tobacco Trail), and the other residents are very courteous/clean.

Great place down town!
It's a beautiful place down town that was just recently constructed. It's near the bus station, and walking distance to downtown (~5 min). Filled with restaurants and bars. Adjacent to the beautiful American Tobacco campus. Definitely cheaper than living by the medical school, and makes up for the cost of a parking pass in like two months worth of rent. Gym, grand pool area, and dog park all available as well as parking.

Review title?
I have had a great experience at Whetstone. As an avid cook and baker, I found the kitchen utilities are great. The parking at times gets filled and it's hard to find a spot close to my apartment (first-world problem). I feel safe because the parking is a parking garage that is enclosed and there's more security measures than were in-place when I lived at the Heights LaSalle last year. The individuals at the front desk are wonderful and attentive. However, packages are either delivered in our package box, at the front office or are sluggishly left out in the hallway which means they could be easily stolen.

Great place, great location
Right next to downtown. A bit pricey but worth it, never loses power during storms because of its central location. Has a gym and pool. Very pet friendly. Lots of dogs, in fact might be a bad place if you are allergic.

Good place to live!
It's a great place in downtown Durham with restaurants nearby. Free coffee downstairs and there are events that management plans. You do need a car if you live here or take the bus.

Downtown Durham Reviews
With that being said, Van Alen is still in Durham.
It takes on average less than 10 minutes for me to go from Van Alen to the science drive parking garage at Duke.
