Using the elevator during COVID sucks. Nothing about the apartment is outstanding, but no complaints. They're good about tracking your packages that come in and responding to maintenance requests.

Great location, not as great people

The apartment is convenient to Metro - 2 blocks from NoMa station (red line) and there are bus stops for 90, 96, 80, and P6 either in front of or within 5 blocks of the building. Grocery stores, CVS and eateries 1 block away. The building itself is really nice. It's a newer building and has an indoor basketball court, gym, free exercise classes, rooftop deck and pool with perfect views of DC, sky lounge, club room, movie theatre, reservable conference room, and business center. There is also Wi-Fi in all amenity spaces. However, the downfall is management and maintenance can be really slow to respond and sometimes do not respond to requests for repairs, etc. at all. Also, some of the neighbors can be difficult and unrulely.

Do not recommend

The building is beautiful, but there are routinely major building issues that take a long time to fix--elevators break all the time, a pipe burst that flooded half the building, the air conditioning broke for a week in August, the door to the garage just broke which led to major parking issues. And when an issue does arise, management does not communicate effectively with the residents nor do they seem to understand that the breakdowns cause issues for residents.

The neighborhood is unsafe: a stray bullet hit the building, there have been multiple shootings within blocks of the building.

While the amenities are wonderful, and the building is pretty, it is ultimately not worth the cost. If I could go back, I would never have moved in here.

2 m street

This apartment building is brand new and beautiful! The corner apartment that we have has tons of windows and ample sunlight. There is an irndoor basketball court downstairs and a huge gym. There is no pet rent at this building and there is a huge rooftop deck with a pool. Great breathtaking skyline.

Happy in NoMa

I moved into 2M Street just over a year ago, and I feel I've made a solid decision. What attracted me to 2M compared to other nearby buildings with similar amenities is that the building does not charge fees on top of the rent for facilities, amenities, or services like garbage removal. Access to all the building's amenities -- shared lounge and theater spaces, complete gym and indoor half basketball court, enclosed courtyard and roof deck, and rooftop swimming pool -- is included in the rent for the resident and up to two guests. There's also a great bike storage room with a bike tune-up station. The building is centrally located with easy access to all forms of transit, and I am happy living here without a car (and not having to pay for parking). I also love the fact that 2M is a LEED Gold certified environmentally friendly building, and its good insulation and double-paned windows keep my monthly electric bill (which includes heating and air conditioning) to between $30 and $40 year-round. The rent is quite high by national standards, but is competitive with similarly-sized apartments in similar new buildings in DC.

My biggest complaint is that there still isn't much going on in the immediate neighborhood - the only restaurants within a few blocks are fast food, there is only one grocery store - although it's pretty good. In good weather it is easy to walk pretty much anywhere in DC.

Great Apartment, Not So Great Location

We love this apartment! The management is fantastic, the front desk staff are awesome, and the amenities rock. The walls are also VERY thick, so we rarely hear our neighbors. The major downside is the location. I feel very safe in my apartment, but I'm not always comfortable walking home after dark. We're right across the street from a fairly sketchy complex, so that is something to keep in mind.

Also, there are tons of pets in the complex, and there is a small dog park in the middle green space of the building. Major plus if you need to walk your dog at night, as you don't have to leave the complex.

Cool building, cool location, some things dont make sense

I love my apt. It is spacious with a nice view and not far from anything while also not in a congested area. It is a great place to live if you are metro dependent. the 80 and the 90 buses go throughout the city and the metro is right there as well as the grocery store and Walmart. The amenities however don't make sense. for instance, no one knows how to work the tv in the tv room, something is always broken and the speaker system only takes the old Ipods or an Iphone 4. Who has an Iphone4? Can't rent movies from the tv etc etc. Why have these amenities if you cant use them. small complaint in comparison to the problems that could exist but don't. overall nice place to live.

Excellent

I love living in this apartment building! The management has been amazing and responds issues very quickly. Additionally, the management strives to make it a social building and they do an excellent job of accomplishing that. I hope the area around the apartment continues to improve, but that would be my only complaint.

NoMa Reviews

I don't venture too far outside of the few blocks of NoMa because outside of the neighborhood isn't as safe. However, the city has done a lot to revamp the area in the past few years, so there are new restaurants and bars opening up. I also live right across the street from the metro, which makes the rest of the city much more accessible.
NoMa is approximately a 35 minute commute to GWU. However, my roommate works on the hill which is less than 10 minutes away. There is a Harris Teeter connected to the building so you don't even have to go outside in order to shop for groceries. The area is still up and coming, so some of the surrounding streets don't seem very safe. However, it is getting better each and every day and it is easy to avoid those streets.
It's an up and coming neighborhood though I live in the very nice part of it. It's rough across North Capitol, but there's nothing over there to go to so I never run into any issues. There's a big dog park as well as plenty to do and eat at Union Market.
Neighborhood is okay. Everything is walkable. Bars/restaurants/grocery stores are super close by. Parking is usually available. Super safe (just don't go near the NY Ave Wendys after dark)
NoMa is up and coming - there are not too many places to eat/socialize in the evenings but the neighborhood is close enough to H Street that you don't feel too stranded.
It's growing like crazy but seriously lacks on the dining/nightlife portion. I like the geography and with the REI opening I'm hoping the nightlife will shift as well.
Fairly safe, though I wouldn't roam around a lot at night. It's certainly a transitioning neighborhood. Lots of people with dogs, big and small.
Noma is a cool area with young professionals mainly and has a lot of food/bar options! It's about 30 min from campus via metro, 20 min driving, (don't walk to campus). The apartment itself is super safe, as is the immediately surrounding area. But it isn't safe to walk west of the area or too far north either.
