Best Building in Shaw

This is the most convenient building in the up and coming Shaw neighborhood. The staff is very nice, the roof pool and common areas are the best in town and there's a grocery store on the retail level. I enjoy living here and having access to all the new bars and restaurants popping up.

Great building, and that's about it.

Like the title- it's a nice building, but over-priced for the level of crime in the neighborhood, particularly this past summer. The front-desk is great, leasing office staff is very rude and plays favorites; new addition to the building will make it super overcrowded-- over 300 apartment units for a TINY sliver of a pool that was already crowded. To get a space in any of the common areas you had to show up at 9:30 am for a pool chair and forget the lounges or rooftop-- people stake those out hours in advance. Lame.

Awesome Apartments

Very awesome place to live in. Close to metro and bus. It has a really nice gym inside and an awesome rooftop to make smores and have a good time with friends. You will love the view, close to convention center and few blocks from verizon center. Lots to do around here. It's growing.

Love this apartment

Infinity pool on the roof overlooking the city, fire pits, dog park, full size gym/spa/spin classes, grocery store, gelato store and a wine bar opening up - heaven in an apartment. Plus bozzuto is phenomenal. I will not rent with another management group as long as I am in dc

About Shaw

One of the city's oldest neighborhoods, Shaw is a cocktail of history, entertainment culture and of course, food. This neighborhood brings performing arts from the Howard Theatre and Ethiopian food in Little Ethiopia. It also nurtures a sense of gratefulness in the African-American Civil War Memoria...

Shaw Reviews

It’s undergoing gentrification so there are ups and downs. It’s close to everything- downtown dc, the U street party life and the Chinatown area, as well as a lot of federal jobs. Shaw itself has a lot of new bars and restaurants so it is pretty great.
I don't exactly feel safe in this area and I avoid walking around at night because it can be dangerous. U street gets crowded and can be enjoyable/convenient for nightlife. In the mornings walking to class is fine. There are a lot of homeless on the street.
I enjoyed living in Shaw. Pretty close to everything and it's a lively neighborhood.
great place to live. so many bars and new restuarants popping up. also close to sooo many ethiopian restaurants which is awesome. great coffee, right next to the metro which is super convenient. close to everything really! takes less than 10 minutes to get the 14th st. only a few blocks to U street, and 15 min walk to columbia heights/dupont!
Hip & trendy neighborhood
Shaw is the trendiest neighborhood in DC right now. All the latest bars and restaurants are popping up along 7th and 9th streets. That said, it's still a neighborhood in transition.
The immediate surrounding neighborhood is brand new and lively. The Shaw/ U Street Neighborhood in general can still be a bit gritty, like many parts of the city, but it’s undergoing lots of new construction, with new restaurants and retail stores popping up. Overall, I’ve felt very safe living here in the city and in my complex.
The neighborhood is rapidly becoming gentrified, for good and bad. When we moved in, the Giant grocery store was brand new; previously, the area had been a "food desert." There was a shooting on our street the day we moved in, and there continues to be a lot of targeted gang violence. People living in subsidized housing nearby, and have lived there for decades, are slowly being moved out of the city, and new expensive condo buildings are springing up in their wake. Expensive restaurants have filled the neighborhood at a rapid pace in the past 2-3 years, and the juxtaposition between the rich and poor is increasingly apparent.
