Cheap and convenient

I like my complex. The front office staff is friendly, the area is mostly clean, and the neighbors are quiet and I feel safe. Parking is free and right in front of my unit. My apartment is very spacious for its cost compared to other Atlanta apartments I looked at when moving here. The only drawback is that the 'gym' is one of the worst I've ever used, but the Emory gym is essentially free so I still have access to adequate workout equipment.

Woodland Hills

I love Woodland Hills. Its 10 minutes from school and grocery stores are right down the road. Very convenient. I havent had any issues with the apartment and it was the biggest in square feet for the lowest price. There is enough free parking and I like that you park right in front of your apt instead a huge parking garage. There’s a pool, tennis court, and small gym.

Budget Friendly + Superior Property Management

Woodland Hills is a great apartment complex for students who are looking for a budget friendly solution to housing needs. Our apartment was freshly refurbished and included brand new appliances. I've experienced very few drawbacks (such as a small gym), and give this apartment an Excellent rating simply for the exceptional property management. As someone who has lived in many apartments, management is the one thing that can make or break your apartment. Woodland Hills offers incredible customer service, almost immediate service/repairs for anything that goes wrong in the unit, and are always friendly and ready to help. Can't say enough good things!

Quiet but over priced

They are making upgrades but it's not worth what they are charging as compared to apartments in the area. Managers have mood swings which you can tell by the tone of emails about parking, mail box issues ( the mail boxes broke in Spring of 2015, the USPS stopped delivering mail to a make shift drop off in the office around September and the manager suggested that all residents call the post master to complain. It's January 2016 and still the mailbox situation is unresolved). The security gates were removed because they were old and too expensive to replace, that was the exact wording in a email that was sent to residents. There is not ample parking in front of some building there are 5 spots and 10 2 bedroom units so they offer reserved parking for an additional monthly fee of $50. It's a quite area but management is a nightmare they can't manage a property.

Decent Place but Overpriced

There is a huge gap in what one unit rents for to the next for instance 4 units in most of the buildings the gap is about 70-110 difference in rental rates. Things break on property such as gate quite often and it takes a while to repair. There have been missing mail boxes for 3 months. So, we can only get mail during office hours which is difficult with a full work schedule.

Property is really dog friendly!

About Decatur

Northeast of Atlanta lies Decatur, a city unto itself, which is a favorite for many professionals, young families, and couples. Established in 1822, Decatur was named after Stephen Decatur, a naval hero from the Barbary Wars and the War of 1812. Today, Decatur is an up and coming city, experienci...

Getting around Decatur

Decatur Reviews

59 reviews
Downtown Decatur has a lot of nice restaurants without the chaos associated with the metropolitan Atlanta scene. I would describe it as a suburb that makes you feel good to come home to. It's not to far from areas of interest such as Ponce City and Midtown.
Great area: lots of shopping/food options, easy access. Overall safety is average.
Very close to the school and plenty of food options.
This is where the wealthy in ATL live, and a lot of great restaurants, bars, and little locales are near or in North Druid Hills. Main thing is that a car is absolutely necessary to get around. Public transportation is too sporadic and unreliable to get anywhere consistently.

Uber and Lyft are options, but if you're coming from a large metro area with small wait times for ride-sharing, be prepared to wait upwards of 15-20 minutes for your ride on select days because of road congestion/traffic/driver unavailability.
The actual spot we're on isn't very scenic (it's a huge 6 point intersection I hate) but Decatur in general is great. There's supermarkets walking distance, it's close to school and near the shuttle, and pretty much close driving distance to anything you'd like.

I have cats so I have a great time I'm not sure if it's the most dog friendly area for walks, though a lot of my neighbors have dogs.
This was a good area of Decatur, close to the school and close to a lot of restaurants, fast food, grocery stores, etc. The downside is it was far from Midtown, Buckhead, etc.
There are a few chain-type restaurants in walking distance (and several grocery stores which is great!). However, it's not terribly convenient to access many nicer/better local restaurants or entertainment-type venues so I would say having a car is probably necessary.
I just chose the location because it was close to Emory. Everything “to do” around here is a drive into the city.
