Central Place Review

Very student-friendly, right beside the GU Rosslyn Stop, the Rosslyn Metro, and just across the Key Bridge to cross to Georgetown. Great apartment amenities and location!

Great living experience

I have lived here for almost two years without problems or complaints. It's less than a minute to Rosslyn metro station. The management company and the staff are all very professional and responsive. Super quick to help or provide maintenance always. The amenity is nice and clean. The area is great, too, with many restaurants, and you can walk to Georgetown or Clarendon. Highly recommended.

Living In Central Place

I choose Central Place based on reviews from former students, and it was spot on. Extremely convenient to for travel, as the metro is less than a block away. GUTS is an even closer walk which was a determining factor in my decision - the only stop is here and campus so the ride is very fast (15-25 min from walking out my apartment to entering Hariri building).

24 hours McDonald's and Wise Guys pizza that's open until midnight on weekends underneath the building is welcoming and dangerous for my diet - aside from that, there are limited late night dining options, will need to rely on delivery.

The 1 bed 1 bath apartment I have was a little smaller than expected, one downside is no windows in the bedroom - but the floor to ceiling windows in the living room offer great lighting during the day and excellent views. You will need to have additional lighting (lamps, string lights) if you plan on working or studying late at night, the given track lighting isn't sufficient enough.

All other amenities are top notch, including 6th floor lounge area, gaming room, pool, and gym is amazing.

Concierge is extremely friendly and helpful, they go above and beyond. Management is quick to respond to email (within 24-48hours), it can be difficult to get a hold over the phone sometimes, so I found email the best method of communication.

For an LA transplant, this was perfect for me

I have never lived anywhere on my own outside of LA (and without a car) so I needed a place where it was secure, had close proximity to Georgetown, easy access to public transportation, and away from rampant homelessness. I also value an amenities area given if there would be another pandemic lockdown, I wouldn't be isolated to my studio (even though it is spacious). Many classmates value being around Dupont or other nightlife areas, but I value a more reserved environment. I love that I have walking trails next door to me and that down the street I can walk to restaurants within a pleasant 1-mile distance - at first I didn't want to walk since I was used to driving everywhere in LA, but I adjusted pretty well. I love that the Georgetown shuttle is on the corner of my building and that the public metro station is right across the street. Central Place also has a Tesla amenity service that if I ever need a car, I can rent it on the spot through an app - I've used it about 3 times and it has been a fantastic service. The gym at Central Place is super nice and equipment is sufficient enough that I hadn't had the need to go to the Gold's Gym across the street. I also love that Assembly is also across the street where I can grab a coffee/lunch/dinner and do my homework in their large outdoor and indoor space areas. Property management has been very attentive and has always been responsive to my requests. A downside is that if you are in a lower level floor you might hear traffic from the street, but it isn't too disruptive (this was a complaint a classmate had - he lived on the 7th floor). I dislike that the pool is only open during the summer - I wish I had known that, but it's okay since I negotiated out the amenities fee when I moved in during the pandemic.

You get what you pay for!

The apartment is on the more expensive side especially for the Arlington area, but the units are very modern and have floor-to-ceiling windows for plenty of sunshine. The building has a gym, BBQ/outdoor lounges, a pool, business center, game room, and a residential kitchen. They do have parking for an additional cost but honestly, the GUTS shuttle stop and the metro station is right behind the building so haven't had the need to even have a car.

Rosslyn Reviews

Rosslyn is great, gets a bad reputation from the snobs that think they're better for living in the city but it's safe, there's lots of good food nearby and everything is close and convenient. If you're more relaxed and not big into always going out or wanting to be surrounded by movement I would definitely recommend living here in Rosslyn than directly in DC. American University isn't very close though, it's normally like a 10 minute Uber or a 45 minute metro.
As a Georgetown student, the location can’t be beat...especially at this price. Less than 10 min scooter from campus. Metro station a few blocks away.

However, this has been a business district for ages. There is very little going on around here and many of the restaurants don’t even open on the weekends. But, that’s changing. So stay tuned!

(Also, I like living in Virginia because my vote counts for more here!)
It's a great area as someone who is looking to live somewhere with easy access to popular sites but without having to live with the noisiness in the "center of it all." It's an easy walk to Clarendon (it's about 0.35 mi walk to Whole Foods, 0.7 mi walk to Trader Joes) and a quick stroll to the metro station (only about 0.2 mi walk). It's a mix of residential apartments and corporate offices, and is quieter but still with a strip of restaurants, coffee, medical offices, and nail/hair salons.
I loved living in Arlington (so much so that we're moving back after our lease is up in DC). The exact location of the apartment was not ideal - we were about a 15-20 minute walk to the nearest metro. If you could be right in Rosslyn (near the metro) I think it would be a great area for professionals. We will be moving out to Clarendon next - an area that is great for couples and young families.
I love it - it is right by Clarendon, which is a central area for bars and restaurants in Arlington. It is about 12 minute walk to the Rosslyn GUTS bus and a short uber into the heart of DC. About 1 minute walk to the Courthouse metro which is only one stop from Rosslyn and 2 stops from DC. Great restaurants and bars nearby, plus a ton of good shopping in the area. Great place to have a family and experience both DC and Arlington.
GU student notes: There are two shuttles that run through this area, one that runs 1x a hour around Arlington during rush hours, and one that runs every 10min during rush hour and 20 during off hours. There is no easy access to campus on the weekends so be prepared to UBER.

If you have long legs, renting a bike is an option. If you are like me and 5'1'', renting a bike is an option for downhill rides.

There is a lot within walking distance in Rosslyn (think 20 min average from my apt): Barnes and Noble, shopping, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's (also on the Arlington loop shuttle from GU), public libraries, CVS, Target, Safeway, lots of restaurants.

Also close to dense populations of immigrant communities if you like Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean food.
The area is very safe and close to many stores and restaurants but the community is defined by white privilege. There is not much character to the area and it is difficult to find interesting people around. I absolutely LOVE that I'm within walking distance of a Trader Joe's. I wish there was more interesting cuisine and nightlife though. Nightlife in the area is an extension of immature fratty college life.
Pros: Close to Metro station with three metro lines, new Target nearby, close to several jogging and biking trails and parks, walkable to Georgetown restaurants

Cons: Neighborhood shuts down after 5pm. Few restaurants in the neighborhood itself (this is getting better though). Concrete canyon effect because of the skyscrapers. Closest grocery store is an expensive Safeway.
