Affordable but older community

I love the location - nice, quite, established neighborhood in South Austin. It's also one of the most affordable complexes that I was able to find. However, the buildings are very old. Kitchens very outdated, and you can see the many, many layers of paint on the cabinets. I was lucky enough to get one of the units that have vinyl flooring, which looks pretty nice in most areas, but with awkward cut lines around doors and corners. Bathroom fixtures are more of the same, and the particle board counter tends to flake and shed after contact with steam from the shower.
Walls seem very thin, and whenever the neighbor behind me smokes, the smell comes wafting in. The complex recently sent out a notice that it will no longer allow smoking anywhere on the property, so hopefully that issue will be resolved.
The parking lot floods when it rains, so expect to be wading through sometimes knee-high water to get to your car.
