Overpriced, neglected maintenance issues

Not happy with my apartment. I think in general housing in Ann Arbor is very expensive and allows private landlords the ability to gouge students and effectively unilaterally raise the cost of acquiring higher education. My apartment is a sunless basement apartment in an old building with lots of maintenance issues that they patch up but don't fix. They sold me a parking spot for $120/month but did not tell me that it would not be on the property but instead down the street. They have already contacted me about renewing the lease for the 2023-24 school year but only offered to do an 8 month lease that would end late April right in the middle of finals and I have been informed there will be no option to renew it any further so I am now in the position where I will have to incur the cost of moving again even if I wanted to stay. I do like the location, though.

Great location and apartment, mediocre management company

The apartment could not be better located for a student. There are recurring issues with the apartment building and trash pickup in the back alley since we share the back alley with the restaurants on State St. Noise isn't too bad since the bedroom isn't facing the street.
