Galleria/Uptown

Sophistication and Style
Uptown Houston is a sophisticated metropolitan area filled with shopping, eateries, and fashion stores. An urban community, blending business and residential districts, the Uptown neighborhood is filled to the brim with things to do, see, and enjoy. A famous part of Uptown is The Galleria shopping complex, which is the spot to go to for dining, shopping, and even ice-skating. Nearby Uptown Park is another great option - an open-air mall with specialty food and fashion shops, as well as several restaurants serving a delicious mix of international cuisine. On the northside of the neighborhood lies the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center, which is perfect for spending a leisurely afternoon away from the bustle of city life. Here, you can take a stroll over the five miles of trailways and experience the beauty of nature right in the middle of Houston. Another option is the Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park which has a large semi-circular fountain.

The nightlife in Uptown is quite notable too. Highly-rated spots in the area include H Bar, Phi Bar, The West End, and Belvedere. Dining options abound in the area and include Caracol Restaurant, Peli Peli Galleria, Maggiano's Little Italy, and The Oceanaire Seafood Room. Uptown is full of sophistication and style and is the place to live if one is looking for a vibrant atmosphere.

Galleria/Uptown — 8.7/10 Rating (based on 7 neighborhood reviews)
A lot of the apartment complexes and houses around this neighborhood are very expensive, but there are affordable options if you really look. There are a lot of great stores and restaurants that I walk to, but if I'm going to a bar to hang out with friends, I typically go to midtown or the heights. There isn't a great running trail or big park right in the neighborhood, but it's pretty close to a lot of great places for outdoor activities.

LOVE that I can walk to HEB. There are some fun restaurants in walking distance, close to bus stops if needed, pretty close to 610, 59, and I-10. Safe towards San Felipe... not super safe towards 59 at night (also might be because I'm a girl not to be sexist).
