Location outweighs the cons
The location of this apartment is perfect. It's in the Fort Sanders area, but secluded enough to be away from the dense flow of traffic. Good distance from Winston Law and easy to get to class. The UT transit system drives by too. If you aren't used to apartment life, it will be an adjustment. Mostly undergrads live here, so they tend to be noisy. Very spacious, maintenance is relatively quick if needed. Renewal fees are high though. I am staying here because in addition to the positives I've already listed, it is furnished. My rent is the same as others in the area that do not come with furniture. My biggest con is the lack of guest parking.
Good value
The location is close to campus, only about a 15-20 min walk. The amenities are nice and apartments are modern. Fort Sanders can get kind of loud on weekends, but that's most college apartments. For the price it's a good deal.
University Walk Apartments Review
Close to campus but tucked away from the fray.
NOT SAFE
Since new management took over in 2024, they have left the entry gate open despite numerous resident complaints. Police have been called several times because random non-residents have been found wandering the property and cars have been broken into.
Meh
It is more geared to undergraduate students, so being a graduate student here is kind of disappointing. It's not as close to campus as you'd think, and the walk is unbearable in the summer heat.
University Walk
The rooms are small, but it is very close to the strip. The vast majority of people who live here are very young, and it is certainly an undergraduate place. I do not recommend it for graduate students.
Great for Undergrads - Feels Young for Grad Students
Pros: pool, close to campus, good security, separate rent per roommate, gym, nice kitchen, proximity to the strip
Cons: loud (parties) on weird days, roommate match out me (25 yr old) with a freshman and sophomore in college (after asking for other graduate students), not really walkable (despite name)
TIP: if you choose this, pay for the specific parking spot, otherwise you’ll be outside the gate a distance away
