Change From Evanston to Chicago

10 management rating Reviewed by on

I lived in Evanston prior to moving to Chicago to get closer to nightlife for the weekends. It has been absolutely incredible living at Oakdale Terrace for this - the studio apartment is comparable in price to what I was spending in Evanston, but I am actually in Chicago! And that's exactly what I wanted. The area is beautiful, the manager is quite kind and helpful, the studio is spacious. I couldn't ask for a better place to live.

The apartments come fully furnished which is a major draw, rent is reasonable and the location is close to everything.

Mediocre and overpriced

3 management rating Reviewed by on

Oakdale Terrace is not a bad property, but for what you pay, it definitely isn't worth the price. Management is generally friendly but not really on top of their work: laundry machines are often broken, entrances are routinely left unsecured for long periods of time (locks on front door break regularly and take days to get fixed, garage doors are left opened). The building itself is pretty old, and the walls are really thin. The electricity bill is also exceptionally high, probably because the appliances are not energy efficient.

Beautiful building and neighborhood, lukewarm management

5 management rating Reviewed by on

The building is beautiful and clean (recently rehabbed with SS appliances) and the neighborhood can't be beat. Tree lined streets, close to so many parks, restaurants and pubs/bars.

The downside? Management can take over a week with prompting to email back about issues or questions and maintenance tickets can take multiple trips and the seemingly don't really know what they're coming to fix (so they're unprepared).

Apparently this company is hit or miss depending on the building manager for your property.

Overall Good

5 management rating Reviewed by on

Overall I am satisfied with my living situation. The Building is clean, and the hallways and entrance were just renovated, along with the elevator. The apartment is out-dated but in good condition, and I have been told renovations on bathrooms and kitchen will take place this spring/summer.

Quiet and clean building

9 management rating Reviewed by on

The apartments are nice and the building is well maintained. Not all units are renovated (those do cost extra) but overall, it's not a bad apt. Hdwd flooring, working elevators, clean areas, easy online payment system and maintenance crew is good! We haven't had any issues in the building as do feel safe. The units do get really hot in the summer and you can rent (one time fee) an A/C unit and they will install it. Since we have a courtyard view, we still get quite a bit of sunlight but not a ton of fresh air or the outside breeze like the other units (non courtyard).

Great Ameneties

Living here has great access to the El, Vietnamese restaurants, and Uptown/Edgewater. It's a great location in the city. I really like the built in gym and the management is very attentive with a doorman who can accept packages for you so that you don't have to go to the post office.

Uptown Regency is excellent!

My husband and I have only lived at the Uptown Regency for about a month, but so far it's the best place we've ever lived. The lobby is clean and lovely, with a fireplace and lots of seating. The doorman is always friendly and helpful, and it's great to have someone who can take care of packages! We also love the fitness center, and have used the party room for board game nights. Our apartment is newly rehabbed and has great wood floors and new appliances. We can't hear our neighbors at all, which has always been a complaint in previous apartments. We've also got a decent view of Lake Michigan(between the buildings across the street. Lastly, management always gets back to us quickly by email. So basically, we love it!

It's been a great building so far and great management. Good location and close to the park along with transit and grocery store. Small apartment but fine for my fiance, me, and kitty cat. Have 1 year left on our lease and not sue we want to leave after that!

Love the location

I live in the prime location for eats and shopping and its fairly accessible by public transportation. The apartment is fairly modern but is a bit small, and the windows could be a little larger bringing in more light! Overall I like where I live and I plan to continue living here.
