Phenomenal place to live

I have lived at Laurel Village for nearly four years. I moved here after living in Uptown for one year. I can easily say that this is the best apartment I have ever lived in. It is reasonably priced, spacious, safe, accommodating, and not to mention, has a great location. The building is made out of concrete so you cannot hear your neighbors. The windows are also made out of thick glass so it cuts down on the noise outside. I feel safe in this apartment as there is 24 hour security on site and restricted access to every building and parking garage.

It's fine

If you care about living in an interesting area don't live near campus. This area of downtown is very residential and there are virtually no affordable restaurants or really anything unique. My partner and I moved in near campus because he would have a car and I wouldn't, so we thought it would be best to live somewhere I could walk to easily. I would much rather take the bus and live somewhere I actually like. It's important to draw a hard line between school and home. We are 100% moving next year.

Great Downtown Option

This apartment is a great option if you want to live in downtown, but not in the middle. It is close to the major interstates, but is not noisy. There seems to be some renovations going on in apartments above and beside me which can be loud. Management has been kind and attentive, and maintenance is usually quick to fix a problem if it is an emergency. Overall, it has good amenities and feels clean and safe.

Great for law students.

I love where I live. I have a balcony (which rocked during Covid shutdowns). I am very close to the law school which was critical when we had classes in session. I loved it. I feel safe in my building and there is security 24/7.

Since Covid, my apartment has been less than ideal. I am spending a ton of money to live close to a school that I no longer attend (in person). If it was up to me, I would live in a cabin in Northern Minnesota for $200 dollars a month.

But all in all, pre-covid, living here was awesome and I recommend it to law students.

Based on the lack of sunlight review below, I never had a problem with it until I couldn't leave the home during the pandemic. Before then it was never an issue.

This is a block from campus and definitely worth the price.

a bit dated but good location.

nicely located to school, expensive but nice amenities and maintenance staff. Parking, wifi, cable add up with rent already being expensive. sticklers about 1 parking spot per apartment

Good for law school, not great for long term living

My wife and I lived in Hennepin Crossing for three years while I attended law school down the street. It worked out for the three years we were there. Full out walk in closet, giant bedroom, giant living room, decent amenities, nice sundeck that outlooks downtown Minneapolis, fun apartment run activities, storage space, decent security, and in a prime spot downtown.

However, there are some cons that start to weigh on you after awhile such as outdated appliances, kitchen, and cabinetry. Only one spot to park despite having two people living in the apartment. Very small gym. Downtown crime. Very small bathroom for two people. Thin walls and party people. Outdated kitchen makes it difficult to cook at home. Oh, and if you want a dog, forget it. No way around it unless you want to move into their "dog designated" apartment.

After three years, the cons started to heavily outweigh the pros.

Laurel Village Review

It is a good apartment and is 3 blocks away from campus. The only down side is it is expensive and it goes up every year. I started at 1490 and now it's 1530. That may not seem like a large jump but for a college student living off student loans, its tight. Plus it is expensive for all the amenities but due to COVID, I have been unable to utilize them, so the commodities are not worth the price.
