Good Value

The apartment is a good value and I am generally happy living here. Stevens Community consists of several buildings in the Stevens Square neighborhood and there are several different floor plans. My particular building is an old coverted hotel. The apartmertment itself is attractive with a good floorplan and lots of storage/closet space. The building is a little dated and sometimes has a musty smell but seems to be in generally good condition. There are many noisy neighbors in this building- do not rent if that is a deal-breaker for you.

Management is very helpful and professional. The maintenance staff is also very friendly and responsive to concerns.

Monthly rent of $1050 includes $975 base rent + $75/month parking + $25/month pet rent.

Good value

I have really enjoyed my apartment for the last 2 years. It is affordable compared to surrounding areas, the staff have been very kind and helpful, It is a 12 minute walk from school/downtown (and Uptown is walkable!), and I like the neighborhood. The units are not the most spacious or modern, but they are charming and clean! I rent a parking spot for an additional $75/month, and I pay an additional $25/month for pet rent and $5/month for storage space in the laundry room in my building. So my total rent is $980, and that covers heat, gas, water/sewer, trash, parking, storage, and pet rent.

Note re: pets- in addition to $25 pet rent, there is a refundable pet deposit, and a non-refundable one-time pet fee.

Cheap Rent, walking distance to downtown campus

I live right on Stevens Square park in downtown Minneapolis. It's about a 15-20 minute walk to the law school and business school. It's an old apartment building (100+ years) but the kitchen was renovated before I moved in. Big living room, galley kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. The management company is great. There is a ton of street parking around the park, and the apartments each have limited parking you can pay for if you want. Everything you need is within 1 mile of you.

The neighborhood is relatively safe. It can get a bitch sketchy after dark though.

No amenities like a gym or anything, which is a bummer. The 3rd Ave Market is great though, and Boiler Room Coffee has great coffee and waffles and baked goods. Both are less than 2 mins walking from my apt. CVS, Jimmy Johns, Nicollet Diner, a car repair shop, and a liquor store are within 5 mins walking.
