The Overview is great!

So far we have enjoyed living here! It is nice not having to worry about paying for utilities, and they have a great gym, pool, and amenities. They offer free or reserved space parking garage (there aren't always spaces in the free garage open if you get home late tho) Its about a 15-20 minute drive to campus which isn't bad either!

Great Place/ Management Suspect

moved to my apartment in August. Love the location. For a young professional it is a great spot. The management is very inept. Luckily you dont have to deal with them very often but is a serious challenge when you have to. Maintenance is also a joke.

Great apartment, but wrong crowd.

The Lofts at River's Fall were just completed in Q3 2014, and the apartments are very nice. It's great to have a second floor with a bedroom and have more living space. Shockoe Bottom is a little too nightclub crazy for my lifestyle. It's a short drive to the Fan. It's easy to hop on 95/64 to get to work in less than a half hour. I do most of my shopping and errands in Short Pump before driving back to the city after work. Great access to the Canal Walk and the 17th Street Farmers' Market. There are lots of great restaurants within walking distance.

Shockoe Bottom owned tobacco inspection houses back in 1730, but the land continued to develop under the ownership of William Byrd II, who eventually turned into its very own town. Getting around Shockoe Bottom

Shockoe Bottom Reviews

9 reviews
Shockoe Bottom has a decent restaurant/bar scene as well as some clubs. It's close to downtown so if you're working there it's a good option. Rent is getting steeper as more investment is made in the surrounding communities so that's worth watching. There's only one (overpriced) grocery store nearby and public transportation leaves a lot to be desired but that's supposedly changing. The area has a ton of character and the flip side to more investment in the area is greater amenities.
I don't venture out much because of COVID, but I know there's a bookstore nearby and some local restaurants (it's also right across the street from a Buffalo Wild Wings). I think I'll enjoy living in downtown a lot more when it's safe to go to the bars and stuff again.
It artsy
Near a lot of restaurants, bars, and green space. Good for young professionals.
Good.
The neighborhood is close to the medical campus for VCU which is great for my roommate being a dental student. one block from a farm fresh and numerous little restaurants within walking distance. One con is the train down there is loud but I have gotten used to it and it doesnt wake me up.
Lots of young people around. bars/restaurants/parks nearby
Parking is awful, but the cultural/social/restaurant/bar and club scene is amazing.
