Management Sucks - but space is nice

The management is awful - trickling into the maintenance approach. Maintenance requests take forever, despite urgent requests (my ceiling leaked for about a week before anyone came - even with many calls). Maintenance is stretched really thin, only one or two professionals for each building (5 buildings in total) which is insane since each building has 16 floors with about 30 apartments on each floor.
There are cockroaches, same with every big apartment, but they don't really come into the apartments if you maintain cleaning, request a spray when needed, and using any sort of anti-bug of your choosing (I use those ultrasonic plug-ins which works really well! I see maybe one every few weeks). Also when I walk my dog late at night, there are insanely massive rats that skitter around the apartment buildings - but I've never seen one inside or anything. Maybe that would be different if I lived further down the building but I'm pretty high up!
The whole complex was bought out by the CIM Group around a year ago and it seems like they're really trying to better the complex. They're replacing pipes and working on making the buildings nicer (repainting, decorating, etc.) but the CIM Group has never dealt with residential buildings before so there have been some growing pains for sure.
Overall, I like living here enough but the management is a pain - you can never get ahold of them and honestly it is like pulling teeth getting anything done with their office. HOWEVER, the front desk staff is pretty nice and most people here are pretty cool. If you decide to bring a doggo to live here, there is a small (kind of gross) dog park for them (it's that weird kitty litter type of gravel) and there is another dog park about 5 minutes away. The location is great - right next to the highway and there are a ton of stores, restaurants, and things to do around here. We are about 5 minutes south of the pentagon with no traffic, 15 minutes south of georgetown, and we also have bus stops all through the complex. Each building has a little gym in it, there are two pools, and there are "community rooms" you can use. This building (The Stratford) houses the leasing office and the management office as well as security so we don't have a community room in here. Also there's a 7/11, dry cleaner, and bank here in the complex. Each building also has some commercial aspect - a daycare, a dentist, a hairdresser, etc. There are tennis courts, a little park, and BBQ grills.
I honestly like it here, just wish that the management was better. I've lived here since August 2020.
