Great neighborhood and value, if you don't mind the communte

What my apartment has:

-Beautiful, safe neighborhood

-Great price for a spacious one-bedroom (>600 square feet)

-Lots of light and storage space

-Easy access to lots of subway lines

What my apartment is missing:

-It's a 30-minute commute to school, but that can still be a pain

-It's an older apartment that hasn't been renovated recently

-No dishwasher in the apartment, no laundry in the building

-Management is tough to get in touch with when repair issues come up

Brooklyn Heights is highly recommended if you want a nice neighborhood, a spacious apartment that has sunlight, and you don't mind a commute (the neighborhood is generally expensive, but very good deals exist if you wait for them). If you don't mind paying more money for much less space, you may want to look closer to school in Manhattan.
