Could Be Worse
The outside of the building is beyond ghetto, but once inside the unit things are much better. The apartment was recently renovated, but like most NYC renovations it was updated using the cheapest and sketchiest means possible. The landlord is highly unresponsive and very difficult to deal with. Mice problems took 6 months to handle, roach problems received no landlord attention. Corner is extremely loud since there is a bridge and bus stop right there, so location isn't that great even though it is close to the 4/5/6 and N/Q/R/W. I would not have rented this apartment had I seen it in person first, but as I was moving from California I had to rely on a broker who literally lied about the apartment's location, size, and building. Moving costs are high and I've come to terms with its problems, so I'll probably stick it out a little longer.
