Awesome Management

We moved here from The landings at Chandlers' crossings and our experience with Ashton lake apartment management was super awesome and hassle free. The apartment is great and spacious but the management is what we are most happy about. They are very accommodative, responsive and super friendly.

Quiet but removed

This community is quiet but kept up well. It is a little removed from campus so a car is necessary unless you're okay with the bus (they only come every half hour though). Some units like mine have a washer & dryer and dishwasher in unit also

Nice Place

Air conditioner is in the living room. Gets super hot during summer. Amazing during the winters.

Ashton Lake

It’s been great. Only issue is 3 miles off campus but it is right next to a bus route and a Meijer.

Quiet area with large aparrtments

The apartment is old but functional. You get a lot of space for the price, but sound travels through the walls and other people moving above you will shake the ceiling. The wall-unit A/C is not enough for the few hot summer weeks and it is extremely loud. Don't plan to have many guests in the summer as the apartment will not be cool and the A/C running will not make it easy to talk.

The area is very quiet with running trails close by. There is also a Meijer across the street, which sold me on the place. Parking is always available and covered parking is extra.

There is no indoor common area, gym or pool here. There is an outdoor pavilion which is sorta run down. The gym is located at the sister location, Homestead.

Overall, I'd live here a second year as it is good value for a quiet place. One thing to consider, other places closer to campus wouldn't be too bad and can also be as quiet too.

You get what you pay for

This is a value apartment. For $940 a month, two bedrooms and two full bathrooms is a steal. If you live on the first floor, you get one covered parking space included with your rent. They have online, electronic rent payment now available. You are in walking distance from Meijer and Kroger. There is a nice trail directly behind the complex that will take you to the Chandler Villages, the soccer complex, and all the way to Abbott road. It's a small apartment complex, so getting to and from the apartment is not time consuming.

This apartment however is much older. There are no new amenities. It comes unfurnished. It's relatively spacious. I've hosted about 10 people at a time and everyone was comfortable. They have issues with noise, summer bugs, and there is no clubhouse. The management is moderately responsive.

Inexpensive, Inviting, Interconnected

This apartment complex had an amazing summer move in special that allows my husband and I to pay under $900 a month. The complex is not huge, which is nice and makes it easy to get out in the morning to go to class and for him to go to work. This apartment is about a 3 minute walk from Meijer and an 8 minute walk from Kroger, both on/off Lake Lansing Road. It is about a 7 minute walk from a CATA bus stop. It is only a 13 minute drive from MSU campus if you have a vehicle. It's a relatively quiet area and there is a trail right behind the complex that you can walk run or bike and it goes to campus.
Cons: They have a way to pay rent online, but it charges a steep processing fee. There is no in-facility fitness center. There is no club house which would be nice if you like to host. The complex is older and it's reflected in the apartment style. Cooling vent isn't in every room, it's a large AC unit in the living room. They don't have recycling in the complex. Zero storage; besides the bedroom closets, there is only one shallow closet that is essentially a broom closet.
