Way Overpriced, Poorly Managed

My wife and I rented here for 6 months when we moved from NC to CT for law school. The apartment is very expensive for what you get. The grounds are always covered in trash, the buildings are dirty and they smell bad, and maintenance is very difficult to get ahold of.

When we first moved in, the apartment they moved us into hadn't been cleaned properly. There was fecal matter on the toilet, the kitchen was filthy, and the carpet hadn't even been vacuumed. Also, the AC, washer/dryer, and sink were all broken. We received barely an apology and were not offered any compensation despite having to spend an entire weekend in a hotel while we cleaned the apartment correctly.

Eventually, they fixed all of the issues, but this caused additional problems. When they came to replace the washer/dryer unit, they couldn't find their key, so instead of waiting for us to get home, they changed the lock without even telling us. Our rent is always current, and by changing the locks they denied us access to the apartment, in violation of CT statutes. Again, no acknowledgment or apology,

This is a very pet-friendly place, which is why we chose it. Unfortunately, many residents do not leash their pets, which caused constant issues in the hallways and elevators. It got so bad that it took a two-person team to get my dogs out, one person to watch the hallways for other residents' unleashed dogs, and one person to actually walk our dogs. The grounds are reasonably free of pet waste, which is nice, but the waste bins on the grounds are frequently overflowing with pet waste, which is absolutely disgusting.

The only reason I am giving this place a 3 is that it is pet friendly for bigger dogs. My wife and I paid a small fortune to break our lease after 6 months and get out of the complex because it is so awful. I would not advise anyone to rent there unless they are desperate for a place that will take bigger dogs, and if you are sign a very short lease - you will want to get out ASAP.

I dont know what this means

Great apartment, large, allows animals for a small fee. Office is a little slow to respond. For outdoor lovers its fantastic, right next to a small sheer cliff/park with hiking and running trails. Very cute neighborhood

Lived here 3 years and love it

Lived here at westville village for 3 years and have loved it. It's about a 17 minute drive to school. Right across from west rock park. apartment building is newer, clean, and spacious. There is assigned parking and a washer/dryer in every apartment. I love how homey the apartments feel.
