Cheap, big, and two blocks from the hospital
I was very apprehensive renting this apartment because:
1) it is very old. I had to sign a waiver saying I wouldn’t eat paint because in some parts it is lead based.
2) it is not smoke free housing. However, the units are not connected and my apartment doesn’t smell like smoke, but you may see some neighbors smoking while walking outside.
3) no in unit laundry, just complex laundry.
Reasons I’m thrilled I rented it and lived here for three years
1) living at south16 was DOUBLE my rent for a smaller space. This apartment is very big, in addition to having a gated personalized storage space in the complex basement.
2) I walk to the hospital. It’s located in crystal springs which is a great neighborhood so I feel comfortable walking early in the morning, in the middle of the night, to get to and from the hospital. It’s actually faster to walk to the hospital for me then to drive, find a space in the parking, and go in.
3) yes, it’s an older building but there are no mice or rodents, the flooring is new, and the landlord replaced anything when it breaks with new appliances very quickly. And I don’t make it a habit to eat paint so the waiver wasn’t a big deal.
