Nothing fancy but amazing community, so affordable, and close to campus

We were hesitant to move here because the apartments aren't terribly nice (cinder-block walls, popcorn ceilings, etc). However, we love the community - a lot of married students and young families and since everybody is in the same housing situation no one cares if you apartment isn't fancy. I bike to campus year round because it takes 5 minutes. Our rent is extremely cheap and all utilities, internet, and cable are included. I would recommend this to anyone.

University Village Review

Lived here for 2 years as a student and it's what you'd expect for how cheap it is.

Old and Cheap

Maintenance is not done enough on apartments- our stairwell and air system smells like it has never been cleaned, and maintenance office refuses to schedule any service times or even give an ETA of when requested repairs will be done.

University Village

University Village is a great place to live for students. The apartment isn’t all that nice, but the closeness to campus, the free shuttles, the cheap rent, and being surrounded by a lot of other people in your same situation is convenient and a lot of fun.

The BEST if you have kids

When we first moved in we were a little turned off by the cinder block walls, but we've had a great experience. It's the cheapest 3-bedroom apartment we could find in SLC, provides a great social environment for our two young kids (as well as me and my wife), and it's walking distance to campus. A number of other MBA candidates live in either the East or West Village, which has made working on assignments easy. My wife has made great friends with 3 other MBA wives who live in the community. The free shuttle takes you very close to the business building. And there are 5 playgrounds within a 500 ft radius. Our kids love it. The only downside is that washers/dryers don't come with the apartments, though they have units available in each apartment building. We bought our own washer and just use the communal dryers. Also, dishwashers don't come standard either, so we bought our own as well. If you're considering the University Village, the East Village is more updated with better amenities.

University Village Great for Students

The village is super close to campus and there is a shuttle that goes from here to the school about every 15 minutes during the day which is really nice. The buildings are somewhat old and the inside walls are cinderblock which is probably the worst thing aesthetically.

The best part about living here is the community and you are surrounded by people that are in the same situation as you going to school etc.
