Home to Pittsburgh's Version of Bourbon Street
Across the Monongahela River is Pittsburgh's beautiful South Side, which boasts tons of hip bars and dining options. East Carson is said to be Pittsburgh's version of Bourbon Street if that gives you any indication of the vibe in this neighborhood. However, the area is divided into two parts - South Side Flats and the mainly residential South Side Slopes - so it also offers something for those who don't want to live around the lively East Carson.

Popular hangout spots include Acacia and Fathead's, to name a few. Additionally, the South Side Riverfront Trail offers miles of scenic hiking or cycling opportunities for those who wish to stay active. This neighborhood offer something for everyone.

I personally love Southside. It's close to Duquesne without the prices of downtown. There are grocery stores and restaurants very close by and its easy to get to campus by walking or on the shuttle. The Southside trail is also great for working out. Southside can get a bad rap but I've never felt unsafe and I love the community.

Falcon Court
It’s E Carson street, so it’s expected to have traffic sounds and hooting and cheering on the weekends. Thankfully our bedroom faces away from E Carson and into a parking lot of our apartment building - it’s surprisingly quiet. The walls are also super think here- I’ve never heard my neighbors. While south side can get roudy, you have walking distance to coffee shops, groceries, thrift stores, and bars, if that’s your jam. It’s pretty nice!

Carson Street Commons
Hard to get to Oakland via public transport. I live near south side works which is very safe, however a couple of streets up East Carson there is some crime so be aware.

Hot Metal Flats
Parking can be impossible on weekend evenings but it is worth it for the ease of access to Southside bars and restaurants. There can be a bit of noise every now and again, but it is really not a nuisance overall. Parking will likely be your biggest complaint, but you'd find that in pretty much every neighborhood in Pittsburgh.
