The Gulch

Nashville Action
The Gulch is known for its hip and trendy atmosphere full of upscale buildings, restaurants, and stores. It is situated just south of downtown and was historically an old industrial area that has recently emerged as one of the most sought after places to live in Nashville. Old warehouses have been transformed into luxurious high-rise condos and lofts, and restaurants and clubs are rounding out the scene. The residents of The Gulch love the small neighborhood’s energy. The Frist Art Museum is great for culture lovers - it hosts a variety of film screenings, art exhibitions, and lectures. Perfect for Soul, Folk, and Jazz fans - The Gulch offers plenty of live music performances. The Gulch is the epitome of Nashville’s music scene, and where much of the “music city” comes to life.

Restaurants in the area include The Chef And I on Ninth, Peg Leg Porker BBQ, Biscuit Love Gulch, and Sambuca. Bars in the area include Tin Roof, The Pub Nashville, Flying Saucer Draught Emporium, and L27 Rooftop Lounge. An extremely walkable neighborhood with much to experience, The Gulch is perfect for people who want to live near the center of Nashville.

The Gulch

The Gulch — 8.9/10 Rating (based on 13 neighborhood reviews)
Pros: Very convenient to Vanderbilt and downtown, two (albeit expensive) grocery stores in walking distance, restaurants & retail in walking distance, relatively safe

Cons: Tourist and bachelorette party central— Thursday afternoon through Sunday night there will be party wagons passing by your window on the hour

Living in the gulch is fun, there’s a lot to do in walking distance. It’s nice to have the feel of the city without being right downtown.

I love the Gulch! There is the Turnip Truck which is a small, overpriced grocery store, but I appreciate having in cases where I don't want to drive to Kroger. There are also plenty of restaurants and shopping options for when family/friends visit. They recently opened a small dog park, which is great if you have a dog. I also like going on walks outside, so it is nice to live in an area that is highly populated by foot traffic, so I don't feel as nervous going on walks alone.

Nice neighborhood to walk around in or take runs. I don't feel unsafe but there have been reports of break ins of cars in the parking structure. The management is responsive to this issue

There are a ton of great bars and restaurants around the Gulch and its fairly centrally located. Its not a bad walk to Broadway, Music Circle, or Division and is close to the highway. The only downside is the noise on the weekends, but even then, its not a huge party scene late at night. Overall, the neighborhood is great.
