Westbrae

Relaxed Atmosphere by the Bay
In the northern part of the city of Berkeley lies the Westbrae neighborhood. Westbrae is an older Berkeley neighborhood that is filled with personality and diversity. The neighborhood is popular among young adults and families due to its parks, playgrounds, recreational fields, and gardens. Dotted along the tree-lined streets are traditional neighborhood homes. The main attraction of Westbrae is Cedar-Rose Park. The park is frequently visited by the residents in town whenever they want to enjoy a picnic, barbecue, or simply the weather. The traditional setting of Westbrae attracts many people who want to enjoy a laid-back and peaceful setting.

Westbrae may not be a city-setting, but the food and drink options are still diverse and abundant. Restaurants that Westbrae residents like to hit up to eat and socialize include Lalime’s, La Palmita, Stella Nonna, Sanctuary Bistro, and Super Super Pho. Bars for drinks on the weekends include Westbrae Biergarten, Albatross Pub, Acme Bar & Company, and Donkey & Goat Winery. Westbrae is great for anyone who wants a low-key environment with plenty of food/drink options.

Westbrae — 7/10 Rating (based on 1 neighborhood reviews)
I have not felt that I was in danger in this neighborhood, but we did have someone break into our lobby and steal packages one time. There are sometimes people who will catcall you, but no one who is a serious threat. There are several bus stops within a quarter mile of the building, and multiple good restaurants within walking distance. There are also several grocery stores within a few blocks as well.
