Amazing Place!
I cannot say enough good things about Camden Old 4th Ward. The location is walking distance to the grocery, shopping , bars and restaurants. The management is very helpful and accommodating. The unit is very spacious and updated. Would recommend and continue to live here!
Best to avoid
The extremely high rent does not include water, sewer, trash nor internet. It comes to a tidy sum. The management is entirely lacking in discretion. An odd man spoke to me about something private, and I had never seen him before. John later came to my door to give me a card. Bizarre. The garage and at least one elevator are frequently broken. The alley is excessively noisy as stated in many negative reviews. Walls are indeed thin as paper. Any help requests to Jessica will be ignored. Cannot deny the location is good now that MacPherson square has been cleaned up, but not for long term living as it is a grocery desert and unfortunate school system, and high crime area. But for a pied a Terre the location is good, nobody clever stays for long it has been said. Building is active in the area so better options will be available.
Great Apartment
Love my apartment but it is far from DC. Super close to metro. The management is responsive and the apartment is big!
Good but pricey
Definitely on the pricey side, but a 20-minute walk and right next to the McPherson Metro Stop. Ten-minute walk to the Farragut North metro for the red line. Can have some noise at night from the street, but nothing terrible. Nice facilities in the building (workspace, courtyard, gym). Washer and dryer in unit. Good number of pets in the building. Mostly people who work, but will see some people from GW. Lots of restaurants nearby due to all the hotels. 15-minute walk to closest grocery store unless taking metro. Really enjoy walking by Lafayette Square and near White House when heading to school.
Excellent staff and well-maintained
I've had a great experience at Camden. The building is very safe, and the staff is extremely responsive. I've had a few maintenance issues but they were all resolved within 24 hours. It's a little pricey but my apartment is pretty spacious and the appliances are all updated and excellent quality. There is a small gym and courtyard. There is also complimentary breakfast M-F which is a nice perk. My only complaint would be that its not the most social building, its very quiet and as a 26-yr old graduate student it might be nice to have a livelier environment, but I could also see some people appreciating how quiet it is.
great, just slight crime
I love this apartment, but we do have package thefts and car vandalizations occasionally
Camden Greenway Review
Great, quiet location, bad management for security of complex
10 /10
Love my apartment! Secluded enough from the fast pace city life and safe area to walk my dog at night. The park across the street has security 24/7 and hosts fun events every other weekend that are fun when taking study breaks.
Great for Commuters!
Camden NoMa is close to grocery stores, Union market, and conveniently located next to the Red Line. It’s a quiet but vibrant community in a nice, urban neighborhood.
Great value for apartment with easy access to campus
Me and my wife have a 2/2 layout overlooking the pool. We also have a dog, and the bark park is very convenient for us to use. There are some great amenities, such as the pool area, gym, and clubhouse. The bus stop right outside the building makes getting to campus very easy and reliable.
Great for Singles with Pets
Camden Lamar offers a lot of amenities such a pool, dog park, dog wash station, free guest parking, and garage parking. I also appreciate the proximity to the direct bus line to campus, H-E-B, and The Triangle. Additionally, it is located in a safe area where I feel comfortable walking my dog.
Overall Pretty Good
- walking distance to a few decent eateries and bars
- close to a Kroger
- 1 street south of my building has a pretty significant amount of vagrants
- easy access to I75
Great complex, amazing service
I love the area, tucked away from the highways. Maintenance requests are quick and easy. Only issue is the construction currently on Oak Lawn Ave and Hi Line.
Wanted to like it, nothing but dissapointments
I have really wanted to like this apartment complex. I love the location, the layout of the unit, and the countertops, cabinets, etc. all look nice. Unfortunately, out of everywhere I've lived, this by far the worst managed apartment complex. I sincerely believe a team of middle schoolers could do a better job. I've had literally nothing but trouble since the first day I've moved in through the day I am writing this review.
When I received my unit it was not cleaned and it was in a state of disrepair: with stains on the walls, inside the refrigerator, on the cabinets, the floors were dirty, the washing machine stained my linens when I washed them during move in with a "mystery brown substance" (no matter what it is, it can't be good and I don't want to even imagine what it was), the A/C was not working, and the bedroom window wouldn't close. While these issues were remedied after complaints, I don't see it acceptable that I experienced this on my literal first day in the unit.
Following this, I did not receive the key to the mailbox for over 2 weeks, and when I finally got it, it was only because I had complained 3 times (as you can imagine, after two weeks without mail it gets a bit old) After the third complaint, it took them all of 2 minutes to cut it while I was in the office.
My car was hit and run in the gated, secure, parking lot that only residents have access to, in direct view of the cameras no less. Again, I calmly notified the office who mentioned they would look at the cameras and get back to me. After the third day of not hearing anything I followed up with the office only to get the response "my apologies we've been busy but I will get back to you today". Finally when they did get back to me, conveniently, I received a text message saying that after I went to the office they attempted to review the cameras again, only to be told that the camera system conveniently "froze", so they did a reset and magically all the footage was lost and was no longer available to review. I was told they would contact the IT team and get back to me. It's been nearly two weeks and I have not even gotten a message with positive, or negative confirmation. Heck, not even as much as a sorry.
Before I moved in I added on a garage to my lease for $100 a month. The garage was not going to be ready until the end of the next month, no issue, when they're available to lease, they're available. To absolutely no surprise, at the end of the day when I went to pick up the remote and key (mind you, I had received absolutely no communication, via call, email, text, saying it would, or would not be ready.) My account was already charged the prorated fee for the rest of the billing period, but magically the remote "had not been programmed by maintenance" yet, and I was told I'd get a text when it was ready. No confirmation as to the date, time, or frankly even the impression that the leasing office cared.
This lack of care and diligence is the experience I've had with the complex from the day I signed my lease and parted with my money to current day. Sure, some problems had been fixed, but only after my belly-aching to the office. Most of these issues I should not have had to complain about from the beginning, as they are the bare minimum a lessor would expect from their landlord. Maybe in a cheaper complex you'd expect (although should not have to tolerate regardless), but after fees (and there is many) I pay in the $19xx's monthly. Beyond Jasmine, the only smiling face in the office who seems to care about her work and the residents, for the most part the rest of the office staff seem inconvenienced to have to get off their cell phones and speak to you (aka do what they're being paid to do).
Do better Camden. I'm asking for the bare minimum: for you to do your job; and for you to stick to your word, both verbal, and in the form of contract. Unfortunately, neither seem likely coming from your team.
Camden Vanderbilt
It is a little far from campus approximately 20 minutes, but it’s a great neighborhood considering we usually get home late at night! It’s 5 minutes from rice village so you can imagine the neighborhood being really nice! Great community would definitely recommend
