Excellent apartment and building management

I've been pleased with City Flats on Walnut. My unit was very well prepared and clean when I moved in, it's a quiet building, and management has been very responsive when I've reached out about small things so far. It's on the pricier side, especially since there's no gym (though I could access the gym and pool at another City Flats property a few miles away). But the quality is great and so is the location--I easily walk to Kelley and to the middle of downtown. I also have really enjoyed having a small screened-in porch.

Positive Experience

Overall I'd recommend this complex - it's walkable to class, walkable to downtown, safe, and a newer complex than most others offered in Bloomington. I would recommend new students live on the West side of town to be closer to class, restaurants, and student life/activities.

This complex has more windows than others I toured, is pet friendly, large rooms, my townhome has a garage attached and some good greenspace.

I have had issues in my townhome getting trash pickup secured. Management has since changed over and they have been way more responsive

I only wish my cost of amenities can be all inclusive in my rent.

Great Complex

I love the location of my townhome. I can walk to class and walk downtown. It is a pet-friendly complex, newer build (about 5 years old), and way more spacious than other apartments I toured. It is more expensive than other apartments in Bloomington, but for the amount of space and the location it is worth it.

Very quiet and secure apartment complex

Each building is access controlled, so the buildings feel very secure. Packages are left either at your door or in the secured entryway.

Overall good. However, City flats has a lot of applicable charges which could be overwhelming for us as international students. Rent is exclusive of utilities. It is just a nice apartment but no inclusive utilities to the rent and no nearby amenities in the area such as Gym, swimming pool etc

We are having a great time here. It is close to bus stop. The property is well maintained. The staff is very polite. All in all a great place to stay.

Apartment is fine but bus service is spotty

The apartment is good, spacious and has good appliances but the bus frequency to the location leaves much to be desired.

Not Worth the Price

5 management rating Reviewed by on

Good location, close to school and downtown. The maintenance team is great, and rapid to respond and fix things. Indoor parking is a nice option but expensive.

The appliances are outdated, and the hallways have an unpleasant odor caused by rain seeping onto the first floor and a malfunctioning trash compactor. One major concern is the inadequate security measures, as there are no cameras in the entranceways, outside the building, or inside the parking garage. This has led to frequent incidents of stolen packages and damage to personal property within the building. The noise level from the road can be loud at times as the building build isn't the best (cracks in corners of walls/moldings) and I'm sure the windows are cheap.

Overall, there are much better options downtown and nearby that are similar price, newer builds, and higher security.

City Flats on Walnut is a great place to live!

I’ve had a great experience at City Flats on Walnut. The building is relatively quiet and closely located to both downtown and Godfrey Hall. The building is well maintained with my only complaint being that management can react a bit faster when the trash compactor breaks down (the building smells bad when the trash chute backs up).
