The experience of living at this apartment has been okay. There are some significant downsides and I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to anyone, but it's not terrible, and there are some upsides. It's in the loring park area, and the area doesn't feel particularly safe. I often hear gunfire out of my window, and police are often on my street. The elevators are always (ALWAYS!) contaminated by dog urine, which is nasty. Management is not very responsive and the people who work the office feel very detached from residents' needs, which is probably common when renting from a huge management company. On the bright side, inside the building feels fairly safe and is mostly quiet.

Misrepresented Disappointment

I am actively looking for ways to get out of my lease early. This place has been a disappointment. Online it showed pictures of updated units with wood floors,.. they refused to send me photos or a floor plan for the unit upon multiple requests and I found out my unit was carpet. Within one of the first weeks of moving into the building, the package room system broke. Residents have been forced to walk several blocks to the property manager's office in order to pick up packages, or lazy delivery drivers leave packages in a place where they've been stolen. The system hasn't been repaired since July, it's now the end of February. The elevator in the building was supposed to take "8 to 10 weeks" to upgrade but has been out of order since October and it is now the end of February. My partner's bike got stolen from the garage within the first month of moving. There is so much crime in the neighbor I don't feel safe going on walks, and I have to drive over 10 minutes to find a safe grocery store.

Great choice to be close to campus

Attended UChicago for undergrad and enjoy living in Hyde Park. This building is close to Harper Center (~8 minute walk), close to the campus gyms (~8 minute walk), and close to a bunch of local restaurants. It is also close to the 55-56-57 metra stop (~5 minute walk) for easy access to downtown.

I really enjoy living at the Morgan; this was a great find. My roommate is also a good friend of mine that found this place online, and when we came to see it, we fell in love. We have been here for 2 years while finishing undergrad, and could not be happier.

The apartment is quite spacious, with big bedrooms, living area & kitchen. The bathroom is fairly small but works for us. Unfortunately, the quality isn't as great. Repairs are made cheaply & not fully finished. Our air conditioning did not work when we moved in in the summer & heat did not work come winter. We've had plumping issues where our kitchen sink was pushing dirty water up through the bathtub drain. Essentially, we are paying for space and location...definitely not quality.

Pricey but worth it

If you can afford this place, I highly recommend it! Though we pay more for rent than many of our friends, our location is unbeatable-- just a skip, hop, and a jump from the North/Clybourn station, every shop you can imagine in the Sheffield Corridor, and many bars and restaurants at Halsted and Armitage. Our apartment was recently renovated, so that's why we pay more than a lot of other people in this building. If I could downgrade to an apartment the same size but not as recently redone for a price cut, I totally would.
