Cheap and nothing special
It's relatively cheap compared to other places. The location is a 10-minute walk from the Rosslyn metro and a 15 minute walk to Georgetown which is nice. It has free parking which is rare. The appliances are on the older side but functional. The apartment overall isn't of great quality, a few things have broken, but it has been satisfactory. The gym is pretty small and to get to the washer and dryers you have to go outside which isn't ideal. Overall it is cheap, but not a very special place.
Nice for student life
The buildings are old but it is nicely maintained. Free Parking! No swimming pool and other great amenities. Management is helpful.
Upon searching for residences in the Arlington area, Park Georgetown appealed to me and my roommate more than any other complex. It's ideal location, paired with fantastic rental rates and professional staff, make this an incredible place to live. I'd recommend this complex to friends, for sure!
Convenient but not worth it
Overall, Park Georgetown is convenient and the location is great for the price but the apartment leaves much to be desired. The buildings are old, noisy and the walls are paper thin. I will be happy to move to an upgraded apartment community even if it costs more.
Love this place!
I am in love with PGT! For my budget, I have the largest 1 bedroom in the area with an absolutely amazing management staff. The entire staff is like family now and it makes me never want to leave this community! The building are a bit older but in such great condition and maintenance will come for any problem in a timely manner! One of the huge running paths backs right up to the property but the property is still on its own and safe! Not the best location for walking to courthouse/Clarendon and the metro is about 12 minute walk but there are always sacrifices when you have a budget!
Construction next door
no daylight w the new building being built next to it
They do not remodel anything in the apartment, no yearly inspection, no pro active building maintenance. They never wash the windows, there is a pet problem that building deals with it, and now that construction next door is being done, ne sleep and no daylight if you live on the north side of the building.
Columbia Heights for the Right Price
I've been wanting to move to Columbia Heights for a while, but my salary one year out of school was making it look close to impossible unless I wanted to live in an old townhouse with 6 strangers. The Uptown has been my saving grace! The manager, Donnie, is wonderful and clearly goes above and beyond in his work. The building is stylish and well cared for - 24/7 maintenance goes a long way. And the price is hard to beat for a Columbia Heights apartment. There are some amenities you'll forgo to get that kind of price - there's no desk/concierge for instance, and no in unit laundry. But if you're looking for an affordable option with a good standard of living (they've got a gym after all) this is a great place.
Location saves it
I moved to this apartment due to a combination of price and location. Being a 10 minute walk to the vibrancy of 14th St, as well as the convenience of Target and the metro being 5 minutes away, has been the best part of living here. However, the to get a lower rent for the area, the building is old and in need of building-wide updates. While the interior of the apartment units have been updated, the rest of the building is sorely lacking. Our air conditioning and heating run constantly due to old windows that do nothing to conserve energy. The elevators are small and one is usually not functioning, or the elevators just decide to have a mind of their own and move at will. I'd love to move to a newer building, but cost is a big factor. This building is fine for now, as I said, location saves it.
Great Location, No Pests, Good Value BUT Management Slightly Unresponsive
Loved living here for the location and the price ($2250 for a 2-BR with a huge living room).
Appliances were new and worked well, but the apartment floor was covered in a really dingy wall-to-wall carpet that stained easily.
Loved having a gym in the building and the evening security guard made us feel pretty safe. That said, management is really unresponsive with regards to answering questions. We had to send about 4 emails after moving out in order to get our security deposit back.
This community management is AWESOME. I have only been here a short while but the Property Manager could not be more sincere about caring about his residents. Since the day I moved in I have felt like I have been treated with high priority in any needs I have had and I know this is how everyone feels. Older buildings and no pool and not a great gym but for my price range it is the absolute best deal around!
Great place to live!
You get what you pay for in DC. Van Metre is reasonably priced for DC and it comes with a great location and management is easy to work with. The amenities could be a little better, but a higher end building would cost considerably more.
Overall Good for Young Professionals
Prices are good for the location and size of the apartments. The apartments are not terribly large, but good for two people. Management is responsive to requests and there haven't been many problems. Security is visible every night. 14th Street can be fairly loud with sirens and buses.
I've been at the Park Marconi just short of two years and have had a positive experience. The studio is very spacious and nice for the price and location and the management is very responsive. As for amenities, there's really nothing, but it's an older building so that's to be expected.
Building is a little older and there aren't a lot of amenities, but it's a great space and a good price for the neighborhood. Management has always been pretty responsive and takes care of the property well. Great, central location. Overall very happy with living here!
Overpriced and difficult management
The management at Ravenel is terrible. My unit is worth it because it is rent controlled, but otherwise most apartments are overpriced and management is a large, anonymous, corporate entity.
