Dog owners ideal choice

Great complex for dog owners. There is a an adjoined courtyard with the 3rd Quarter building next door making it easy for quick walks. The apartment is spacious and lots of windows, plus two stories which is fun.

Craft House is a nice place to live. They have a locked in fence which helps make you feel safe. Sweat fitness is a couple doors down although it is not included with rent or discounted. Living area is spacious and the Craft House is close to the subway.

Decent spot in Old City. Safe. Annoying to move in and out of. Parking is basically impossible. Loading zone always taken. Can only have comcast. UPS store is nice for packages. Trash room downstairs. Elevator only on one side. Lots of dog poop on street.

The Crafts House Review

The Crafts House is a nice place to live in Old City. The management is on the same block so you can stop into the office with any concerns. The room is spacious with 2 closets in the bedroom. There is a locked gate that you either use a key or code to enter into the apartments.

Management hours are the same as business hours. Hard to go in to talk to management about any issues you may have with apartment. Nice building and is safe. Has a code you can enter to open gate or a key. Bike rack inside the gate. Close to public transportation.

Great location, Space with Character

5 management rating Reviewed by on

Tindeco is all around a pretty great place to live. Location is awesome; it's waterfront and near the Korean War Memorial park so there's actually green space which is nice as the building is pet friendly. There is a dog park a few blocks away but I love being able walking my pup along the promenade. Canton square is just 2 blocks away and Boathouse, Bo Brooks with the Tiki Bar, and Sushi San are all within throwing distance. Plus, Tindeco sits on two MTA bus lines - the 31 and 13 - which will take you downtown along Lombard past Camden Yards (31) or up Washington past Johns Hopkins Hospital East Campus towards Walbrook Junction (13).

You won't get more space for the price in Canton. As a renovated factory the building has a lot of character. Huge windows surrounded by brick that let in lots of natural light and high ceilings in the loft apartments really give the space a unique vibe. Noise can carry but the neighbors, generally speaking, are friendly and usually up for a drink. Residents are mostly young professionals in their late 20s-early 40s. Other newer complexes in the area with similar price points have ultra modern decor but it all starts to look the same and you're paying for countertops and light fixtures rather than square footage. Tindeco is a little bit more "lived in" by comparison. There is a waterfront pool, gym and a resident-only courtyard and lounge with free coffee but these amenities could be more modern. However, they are still nice to have and the older feel is the tradeoff for the building's location and unit square footage.

Fine if you're not looking for luxury

We loved that the building had loft style apartments with 1.5 bathrooms, laundry in the apartment, and secure parking. That said, it is certainly a step down from other nice apartment buildings in the area. While there is a front desk, there is no way for them to call you when someone comes to your apartment, they just have people sign in and then send them up. I've been underwhelmed by the front desk staff overall. You're responsible for your own recycling- it has to get taken to the garage, where trash and recycling pile up in a corner. The appliances are outdated but functional. Overall, the building is fine but not great, we won't be too sad to move at the end of our lease.

Our homey loft

2 management rating Reviewed by on

We have lived in the Sugar Refinery for almost three years and we love our apartment. The loft style apartment has TONS of character with 90% exposed brick walls and historic floors. Kitchen and finishes are nothing special but they function and are great for entertaining. We have laundry in unit and huge closets. Only complaint is with the noise levels above and below us and maintenance. They are very non-responsive and we have had several issues that have lingered on for months. We have turned our apartment into a home and despite some issues that always come with renting we will not be moving for a long time.
