Our homey loft

We have lived in the Sugar Refinery for almost three years and we love our apartment. The loft style apartment has TONS of character with 90% exposed brick walls and historic floors. Kitchen and finishes are nothing special but they function and are great for entertaining. We have laundry in unit and huge closets. Only complaint is with the noise levels above and below us and maintenance. They are very non-responsive and we have had several issues that have lingered on for months. We have turned our apartment into a home and despite some issues that always come with renting we will not be moving for a long time.

Old City Reviews

We love our neighborhood. I think being north of Market street is a most in old city. We are on a quiet cobblestone street away from the noise and rowdiness of market street. We have great artisan shops and restaurants around us and a perfect local coffee shop just outside our door. I love our area and encourage friends who live in Rittenhouse or grad hospital to walk the extra blocks on a nice Saturday to shop local and enjoy this great side of the city.
Old City is a neighborhood where all ages can find something to do and enjoy. It's generally a very safe area with lots of beautiful things to see.
Old City is beautiful and historic. The building is a 10-15 minute walk from the real Old City. This building is more on that industrial border between Old City and NoLib/Fishtown.
Can be a bit tourist-filled at times, but there is always something to do!
We have a great neighborhood with a bunch of things going on.
Living in Old City has been great - it's a really convenient location, close to public transit, and feels much safer than other places in Philadelphia. Lots of greats bars and restaurants nearby. That said, the rent is pretty expensive so it might be a wider idea to purchase rather than rent.
Old City has revitalized like no other: great for couples, singles, young families and working professionals. Endless shopping and dining and safe to boot! I have never loved a neighborhood so much.
Old City is a beautiful and lively neighborhood. Only drawback is lack of a good grocery store and difficulty finding street parking.
