The Trade-Off

I'm a 2L in NYU Housing in Hayden Hall. Basically, I would recommend Hayden (not D'Ag) if you're willing to make the trade-off for convenience for price. It's considerably more expensive than living with roommates further afield off campus (in Brooklyn, for example) but it is light-years more convenient than Brooklyn. You will never be late for an exam because of the subway (yes, this has happened to someone I know). On the other hand, if you want to minimize your debt, Hayden is not the place to do it. It's also very quiet, there's a front desk so you don't have to worry about missing packages, and certain other amenities. Also, for NYC apartments, the 2 bedrooms have very comfortably sized bedrooms and kitchens.

Practical, well located

The apartments are not brand new but still are practical, fully equipped and well located. The size of my room is pretty OK.

Everything you need in an excellent location

We live in a sunny & spacious studio apartment. The noise from Broadway is annoying and the arm chairs are really uncomfortable - so the lounge part is not great but the desk is huge & really functional. Kitchen is tiny but you get used to it & at least the fridge/freezer is big. Laundry & printing services in the building are so helpful & maintenance issues are addressed straight away.

Pest issues

Overall a good apartment. Located in first floor with poor sunlight. The main issue we had regarded mice. We saw them in various opportunities and although management responded with traps, they only checked to see if there was a bigger issue when my husband had a big argument with management.

"One of the best values for this location"

The location is the best reason for this apt building. Soho is within 10 min's walk. The facility is clean and safe. It's quiet. There's 24-hour doorman. There's a game room and lounge. The price is good for this location. It is well-maintained too. There's a fix service request for when you have a problem with anything. And, it would be fixed within a day. No pets, though.

NYU is an awesome landlord....

If you're a JD/MBA, as I am, housing really doesn't get any better than the Mercer residence. It's hard to imagine living any place that's better, so if you can afford the rent here and don't mind being so close to school (some people like being able to "get away" on the weekends) it's totally worth it.

NYU residence

Rooms are a little bit old, but they are big. The building is crowded with students, so it is great to network and party.
It is also superclose to the NYU (2min to Stern).
Moreover, they are going to renovate some bedrooms!

Greenwich Village Reviews

Very convenient location - the neighbourhood has almost everything you need including groceries, restaurants, the subway and entertainment options.
Best neighborhood in New York, period. (I didn't mean to sound like Sean Spicer, but at least my statement is true) Amazing nightlife, Washington Square Park, close to NYU, historical, forward-thinking, beautiful. The Village is a great neighborhood, move here and never look back.
It's not a close-knit neighbourhood but it's very modern and safe.
Lots of restaurants, bars, & Trader Joe's. Subway is convenient.
NYU Central. Very close to Washington Square Park. Walkable to West Village, East Village, SoHo, Nolita and more. It's fun, lively, and still has a dry cleaner across the street. Some of the nearby bars are loud and boisterous.
Many dining and entertainment options, as well as grocery stores.
This area is very close to campus, very safe, can sometimes be noisy, close to grocery store options, bars, restaurants. Great place to live.
Not too far from campus (15 min walk max), right next to Union Square station (NQR, 456, L).
