Just okay

Management is pretty chaotic--lots of turnover, constantly understaffed, hard to get them to come fix things or answer questions. But, they're also not overbearing and constantly enforcing annoying little rules, so that's nice. Material quality of apartment is also just okay, not the newest but not falling apart (at least in my unit). I know it bothers my partner more than me. Parking (for residents and guests) is effortless which I value a lot. More affordable than similar stuff south of the river, but they keep trying to raise rents so that benefit may be evaporating. The pool is nice, storage pretty easy.

I like the location because I'm older and want quiet and access to nature, which this location provides nicely. Good mix of grad students, families, older people. It's a long walk to school but a very easy bike ride. Not convenient to stores or bars or restaurants. Feels like a safe area to me but I'm a male-presenting person who's used to living in big cities.

Wonderful complex

This apartment complex is a short drive away from the medical campus. Great value for the spacious floorplan. Pet-friendly and very responsive management. Super close to the bus stop, and a quick drive to the North Campus gym. I've lived here all 4 years of med school and it's been a wonderful place to live.

Traver Crossing Apartment

I was looking for a quiet apartment that would be good for me and my dogs - and I have been so happy at Traver Crossing. It couldn't be a better fit for us.

The building and appliances, etc., are older. But management has been very responsive to any issues I've had. If you're looking for a more 'luxury' apartment, Traver Crossing probably isn't for you. There is, unfortunately, also no in-unit laundry and machine prices aren't cheap ($1.75 per wash/dry - BUT you can pay by card and don't need to worry about quarters).

If you're looking for a friendly, affordable, quiet apartment with a TON of storage space, I would definitely recommend Traver Crossing. The fenced in dog park is also a huge plus for us.

I was drawn to Traver Crossing over other dog-friendly apartments in Ann Arbor because of the location. If you enjoy natural spaces/trails/being close to the river, you can't get much better in Ann Arbor for a dog-friendly spot. We love being close to the Leslie Science & Nature Center and only a mile from the Argo Nature Trail, one of Ann Arbor's most popular trails. As a runner, it was important to me that there are so many beautiful routes (of a huge range of distances) that are readily accessible from Traver Crossing.

I was a bit worried about the proximity to the train track that parallels Plymouth Rd, but have not been disturbed by the trains at all.

No hassles, good value

Spacious apartments with outdoor space (e.g., patio). Very quiet community (never hear anything), pet-friendly. Easy parking included in rent, close to bus lines, grocery store, and medical campus (30 min walk, 7 min bus ride, easy drive). Good management company.

Affordable with good management

We've been very happy living here this past year. Having lived at some of the other apartments in the area, I feel that Traver Crossing is the best combination of value and good management. The apartments are well maintained, and the service techs are pretty prompt when fixing things that break. Overall, very pleased.

Beautiful, quiet, serene complex

I chose this complex because I am a dog-owner and wanted a place that was pet friendly. The complex is surrounded by trees and away from the road so it is calm and quiet here. There is a dog park in the complex for your pets (if you have one) and plenty of green areas to comfortably walk your pet. Also, nature lovers would appreciate that the Leslie Science and Nature Center, which includes beautiful wooded trails, is essentially in our backyard.

Pricing of the complex is similar to places near the hospital, however, I feel like I get much more "bang for my buck" with the large floor plans and extra large closets!

Traver Crossing is right off Plymouth and Barton Drive and right on the #2 busline to the hospital or downtown. It's also a nice walk to the medical campus on a nice day.

North Campus is the place to be!! Lots of trails and nature for walking, NCRB gym nearby, grocery stores, gas, food, and more. Mostly graduate students up here so quieter but also within 10 min drive to downtown. There's always parking too.
I have lived in A2 for going on 14 years, it is sort of like having a friend, even when you are alone.

Me and a friend and her dog visit neighborhood parks.

That dog met the caged bald eagle at Leslie Science Center.. and twang!
To the end of his leash! The eagle looked at him like he was the most delicious thing he's seen all Winter. We just trudged thru the snow to view the cages, (both eagle and dog are ok)
Great quieter area very close to the hospital, and close to many other med students. It’s a more peaceful area that’s a tad farther from downtown, but for someone who likes a quieter space to study or nice spaces to walk and hang out with friends, white coat area is right by the river and Island Drive Park, and there are often med student social events held at White Coat Area because so many medical students choose to live here.
I personally really like North Campus, although it is farther away from downtown and the law school. There are several restaurants right near my apartment complex and the commute to school is very easy. I also find the lack of nightlife a plus, because it means the neighborhood is a lot quieter and safer than other areas of Ann Arbor.
Overall this area is great for walking to the medical school and hospital, living near other medical students, and especially having easier parking than in the central downtown/kerrytown areas. You also escape the rowdiness of undergrads by living here. The main reason I gave it a "7/very good" rating was because I don't like feeling isolated in location from central campus. Walking from White Coat to restaurants/bars downtown is at least 20-25 minutes, and often I decide not to go just because I don't want to walk there and back. After 6PM everyday parking is free downtown (free all day on Sunday), which is nice, except you don't always want to drive if you are going out to bars. It would be nice to have some type of casual coffee shop or restaurant in walkable distance to White Coat, but there is not. (edit: there is one breakfast-like cafe near White Coat, but it gets busy and is over-priced). There are some restaurants and coffee shops down the street on Plymouth road (not downtown) which is an easy 5 minute drive.
Multiple apartment/condo complexes within 10 minute walk of one another creating central location for many medical students of the University of Michigan. Park is 5 minute walk away. Lecture halls are 15 minutes door to hall. Hospital is 15-20 minutes from door to specific area of hospital. Never any safety issues. Parking can be strict and limited. Few stores and restaurants nearby.
This neighborhood is a 10 minute walk to the hospital which makes is very popular for medical students, residents, and even attendings. It is quiet, but it can be very busy in the morning and around 4pm when everyone is arriving/leaving their shifts. Grocery stores, cafes, and restaurants are a 5 min drive away near north campus.
Pros: beautiful - near the Huron River (5 min walk!) and trails and lots of trees. Very quiet. Residential area - maybe only 20% students vs. long-term residents where I am, though I'm close to the hospitals and med students, architects, and engineers all live up here. Very safe, and I see deer or even a raccoon once in a while. Grocery store is 1 mile away (Kroeger).

Cons: less social than I like in terms of proximity to Rossers. There is only one on my street that I know of.
