Coronado

The coronado is very well-maintained and is conveniently situated in a great part of Rittenhouse, next to many shops and restaurants. Mice are a bit of an issue, though this is common in many apartment buildings in the Rittenhouse area.

Awesome Floor Plan in a Historical Building

Large amount of space for the price point, perfect for 3 people. Great common spaces and a kitchen that accommodates more than one person cooking at once. Call box w/ virtual doorman that let's in package deliveries and allows you to let in guests. Very close to a trolley station, Rittenhouse square bars/restaurants/shops. Downside is that the building is slightly older (it's a designated historical landmark) so the temperature control system isn't the best. Pet friendly w/ landlord consent. Leased by a nice guy who owns a few units in the building and is responsive to maintenance requests.

I recommend The Coronado

It's an older building without the amenities you find in other complexes that MBAs like. But the location is great, the doorman is friendly, and the rent is cheap. This is a no-frills, practical, affordable place to live.

The Coronado

Older apartment, but good value. Management could certainly be better. Solid location. No major complaints.

Great location

While there aren't many Wharton students living in the building, it's a fantastic location (across the street from 2116 Chestnut and a few buildings down from Riverwest). It's also around the corner from The Armoury (easy to stumble home from Pub) and 2 blocks from 2401.

Large, comfortable pre-war apartments, small building, no-nonsense building

The Coronado is exactly what I was hoping for in my B-School apartment. The location is incredibly convenient for living and the commute to school, if a bit of a sterile neighborhood. The building has been undergoing renovations slowly over the pat few years, which seem mostly done. The apartments are great -- huge, original pre-war details, and an incredible value. The management leaves something to be desired -- they have been a bit surly, skeptical of my requests and slow to respond to issues. I would rent here again if I had to do it all over again -- it's been very comfortable.

Great value, updated pre-war apartments

The Coronado is a medium sized condo building (~36 apartments) with a part-time doorman, elevator, and 9 floors. Central Air/Heat is included in the rent which is great as the windows are old and can be a bit drafty. Great kitchen and tons of windows. Many units have in-unit laundry, but there is also a laundry room in the basement. Management has been hard to deal with for maintenance issues. Amazing location close to 2401, Trader Joes, Trolley to campus, etc. Good value for the apartments as well, which are quite large. The residents are a mix of graduate students/young professionals and some older couples. I would choose this building again.

Rare 3 bedroom option

The Cornado is an average condo building. The units aren't particularly nice, but the location is pretty good and it was one of the few buildings that had an affordable 3 bedroom option.

Fitler Square Reviews

Fitler Square is really cute and homey. It's around a lot of other medical students, so it's a good social area and has an easy commute to school. It's also great if you like running because it's right off the trail on the river. Food is good but a bit homogenous (compared to West Philly especially.
Locust and spruce feel a lot safer than market or chestnut at night. Very residential streets with beautiful brownstones. Also close to dog park and the river walkway. About 10min walk from the popular buildings and 25min walk to huntsman
good place for people new to the city! close to both Penn and a lot of stuff downtown. I never lived in Philly beforehand, and definitely recommend this location
Love the neighborhood! If you're interested in being close to the center of the city and being able to actively explore Philly (for a not extreme price) it was great! Also was easy to get to my school - University of Pennsylvania. 15-20 mins to get to school by transit; 30 mins walking.

That being said I did notice that most students lived on the side of the school!
The beautiful tree-filled neighborhood is full of families, dogs, and students - it is safe, full of great restaurants, and boasts an equally quick walk to both University City and downtown attractions. The immediate access to the Schuylkill River Trail also can't be beat. While we lack apartment amenities, we love living in a historical brownstone that has charm and character. This is an area where you can live as a student and stay for another 20 years after that.
Great neighborhood, though expensive for Philly. If you're a Penn grad student who wants to be near campus but not on campus, it's ideal for distance from school and the Rittenhouse area. Lots of parks and residents are friendly.
There are residents without housing in the neighborhood. They're good people and new residents should be respectful of them and their belongings.
The neighborhood is very residential. Not a ton of bars/restaurants which can be annoying if you just want to pick up food after a busy day, but it's right near the park and Skukyhill river trail which is great for exercising and getting outdoors. Close to Trader Joe's and South Street market which is convenient
Center City is a fantastic area. I live on the northern side of it, which is the more financial/industrial/apartment building side. I live 2 blocks from a busy Trader Joe's and inches away from tons of great restaurants, corner stores, and shops. It's close to Rittenhouse Square, a swanky square block with a tiny park in the middle, as well as the Schuylkill River trail (great for running and biking) and the Art Museum area. Multiple major bus lines slice through this neighborhood, making it quite easy to get anywhere when you don't want to walk or bike.
