Overall rating 7.6/10, based on 5 renter reviews Write a review
DO NOT RENT HERE
Whether this place used to be better, I don't know but it surely isn't now. Rent here if you have no standards for your quality of living or property and want to risk your safety! Vandalism by their own staff, crime, units on the brink of collapse, rotting trash in the halls. You will live under the worst people imaginable if you want anything in your unit or around the property fixed. I don't even know where to begin.
1. As soon as we started settling in it was apparent the place was falling apart. Shower barely put out water and the hot water was not working at all. We immediately had to put in a maintenance request. Their maintenance person was rude and said it was our fault & we must have "messed something up." Shower barely worked after that, either burning hot or freezing cold but whatever.
2. Only weeks later a pipe under the sink burst, flooded the kitchen, ruined everything we had under the sink - $100s of dollars of cleaning and kitchen supplies. No apology, barely even a response. "Emergency" maintenance took hours to come.
Then not even a few weeks later Proxy showed their TRUE colors. I assume either we were labeled as some sort problem tenants because we put in maintenance requests for our dilapidated apartment, or they just employ criminals... Our washer broke and also started leaking everywhere. We both had to leave for work/school, and after the previous maintenance experiences, wanted to be home when they did any work. We told them to go in to inspect but to please schedule the actual work for the next day so we could be there.
What did they do next? VANDALIZED OUR APARTMENT. No I am not joking. See pictures. I had spent hours decorating our entire place for Halloween & I came home to the decorations literally ripped OFF THE HOOKS and torn to shreds, with random trash that wasn't ours thrown all over.
Their response? They were "working to address the request swiftly" since they were busy. No accountability. even though they were "just fixing the washer" he would give us a $50 Visa gift card. They genuinely did not even care their staff had just committed a crime against their tenant.
As if the vandalism wasn't enough, this maintenance person actually had the audacity to threaten me when I went down to the lobby to ask who trashed our apartment. Said "you're a woman shouldn't you know how to clean an apartment then" and after a very heated verbal exchange after that disgusting comment, told me "well we know which apartment you live in..." as some sort of threat.
What did Proxy do? Literally NOTHING. If they even write their own responses to these reviews (see the latest review response where they misname their own employees), I would love to see them try to deny this. I filed an official police report for criminal damage (vandalism) and intimidation.
Unfortunately, our savings were blown after moving, so we had to endure more months of living here under constant fear for our safety. I could write a book. They just leave the entire garage door broken/open with full access to the building. We had an arsonist walk in at night trying to light it on fire and had to personally scare them away. Also had to do this several times with people attempting to burglarize residents' cars. They claim it's their "garage door parts supplier"...for over eight months?... so that's also a load of BS. $90/month per person for "secured parking" BTW.
Final straw? A/C unit broke and essentially fell apart in April and flooded our apartment for the THIRD time, destroying everything in the entryway. Their "HVAC certified" maintenance person had to come in the middle of the night, and tried everything he could to literally just caulk around the pipe and screw the unit back together. Only until we demanded they diagnose the problem and tell us what they did to fix it did they call a real HVAC technician. Could've started an electrical fire and whole uni

Downtown living
I love Proxy 333, my favorite thing is the proximity to the law school and the clean, updated apartments/facilities. My least favorite thing is probably the price for space, I get 600 sq feet for $1350 which is fine for me, and understandable living downtown but I would still prefer a bit more space for the price considering that price down not include any utilities. I feel very safe with the interior hallways and key access exterior doors. Management is very nice and helpful. Maintenance can take a few days to arrive for a non-emergency but they are always respectful and fix things appropriately.

Great!
I’ve had a great experience at Proxy. The rent is a good value for the quality and location, and maintenance needs have always been taken care of quickly. The other residents are not disruptive, and it’s a nice, clean building. The management can be a little flighty, but they’re ultimately responsive to residents’ wants and needs.

Awesome
Could not love the apartment or the management more. Wish there was less construction, but that’s not the building’s fault. Best place I’ve ever lived!
