Del Coranado

It is a great building in an absolutely perfect location for cheap. My unit is completely renovated and very nice. Others are cheaper and not renovated (why my rent is so cheap). Perfect distance to school and also in a great area with good nightlife. Very urban feel. I pay extra for parking and not included utilities, but still my total rent including all is under $1100 a month.

NOT a fan

Maintenance isn't great. I have had a lot of issues and they don't really fix the issue but temporarily make it a bit "better". I have also had them lose a number of packages and it can take a long time to get packages because they never seem to be checked in or someone isn't there to go to the back of the office to get it for you.

Good apartment

Location in the CWE is great. Apartment is highly functional and relatively nice, but not fancy. Management company is friendly and responsive.

Medical Students agree, DelCoronado is poorly managed

While management officers recently changed (the apartment manager and staff were so rude, inattentive, and did not show up for scheduled walk-throughs of the apartment, not to mention CHARGED students for regular wear and tear upon leaving), I would be very hesitant to go back. Med students at WashU warn other medical students not to come here. While it has parking and is in a nice location (and recently was renovated), this place is RUDE to students and fails to follow up like other CWE property managers. I would highly recommend paying a little extra for a better run property, as even the property manager's CFO is now aware of how poorly this place was managed over the past ~5 years.

Great location, good building

The best feature of Del Coronado is its close location to Forest Park, dining on Euclid Ave, and the Central West End metro station. It is also a very safe area. The building management could be friendlier and more responsive, however, it is adequate and I have not had any serious issues with my lease arrangement. The unit itself is nice and functional.

Fits My Needs

DelCo is a fine place to live. The Central West End has lots of dining options and is just down the street from a Whole Foods.
My drive to school every morning takes about ten minutes with light traffic. My roommate takes the MetroLink which is a ten minute walk from our apartment.
Our doorman, Wayne, is a joy! He’s so friendly and loves to chat with the residents. Other than Wayne, we have had a few issues with our management, especially when we first moved in, but recently they have stepped up their game and now provide an online option for rent payment and maintenance requests.
We had a few maintanence issues (broken AC, toilet, and dish washer) at the beginning, but they fixed them quickly and all work well now.
Washers and dryers are on every even-numbered floor, they’re run by quarters and there’s a quarter machine in bike storage room on the ground floor.
Finally, if you’re a pet owner, DelCo offers a pet rent for anyone who wants to keep animals in the building—I believe it’s an additional $45/month.

About Central West End

Central West End is, perhaps, the most popular neighborhood in St Louis. The neighborhood borders Forest Park, home to both the St Louis Zoo and the Art Museum, and quite a few other activities, including mini golf, hiking, and boat rides on the lake. Central West End Reviews

I absolutely love the Central West End and recommend it to everyone in St. Louis. In my eyes, there's really no better place to live, unless you are looking for something a bit more budget friendly, and in that case head to our wonderful neighboring community of Tower Grove! The Montclair and Park Frontenac are very affordable options in the CWE. The CWE is filled with beautiful historic homes and buildings. You could spend years learning about all the history of this place. It's also the most walkable neighborhood of STL and you have dozens of bars and restaurants out your doorstep. Also, plenty of spas, fitness centers, doctors, and even Barnes Jewish Hospital all in the area. Forest Park is steps away making the CWE the best place to live! There is still a bit of crime on the outskirts of the CWE (and it has increased with Covid), but the community hires extra security that walk and patrol every night, and the whole neighborhood is very well lit. If you are smart and aware, and avoid walking alone late at night, it is very safe. I have yet to feel in danger in the past 2 years. Highly recommend!
The Central West End has a young professional vibe and feels more like a big city than other areas of St. Louis. Apartments in CWE can be a little more expensive than similar apartments in other areas of St. Louis, but the proximity to the law school, public transit, Forest Park, and night life can’t be beat.
The Central West End is the ideal because it is both entertaining and very safe compared to other parts of the city. On the weekends especially, there is a lot going on here. Many of your basic needs are within walking distance, and if not, they are only a short 5 minute drive away.
I prefer living in the CWE as opposed to downtown area. There are a lot of young professionals, grad students, professional students, etc. in the area. It is just a block away from the Basilica, which had added patrolling security, making the area feel very secure.
Love the central west end, it is such a cute area with lots of places to walk to. I think it allows me to separate work from school because its about 10 minutes away from downtown.
This place is really cool to be next to. I love being within walking distance on coffee and the library. There are also a number of nearby grocery stores and restaurants.
The neighborhood is extremely safe and beautiful. The apartment is within short walking distance of Forest Park and the main part of the Central West End
There's always something happening in the CWE; it's a big social hub. It can feel (and is) unsafe at some times and in some places.
