About Central West End

Central West End is, perhaps, the most popular neighborhood in St Louis. The neighborhood borders Forest Park, home to both the St Louis Zoo and the Art Museum, and quite a few other activities, including mini golf, hiking, and boat rides on the lake. Central West End is also home to the Cathedral B...

Central West End Reviews

The Central West End is a convenient place to live if you don't have a car -- there is a Metrolink stop near the hospital, and bus routes run throughout the neighborhood that take you to campus and other parts of the city. There are plenty of places to shop and socialize. I don't personally take advantage of this too often, because everything from groceries to bars seems to be more expensive here; I usually end up walking a little farther to the less "bougie" parts of town.

From what I can tell, the CWE is populated mostly by yuppies. There aren't a ton of families walking around. It does feel safe generally.
A great pocket of the Central West End. Hampden Hall is located near three beautiful residential streets with retired couples, young families, some students. It’s also located next to the Basilica, which makes for a great view on the upper levels.
The Central West End has a young professional vibe and feels more like a big city than other areas of St. Louis. Apartments in CWE can be a little more expensive than similar apartments in other areas of St. Louis, but the proximity to the law school, public transit, Forest Park, and night life can’t be beat.
The CWE area is great - lots of restaurants and shops and a Whole Foods. It is also right by Forest Park and there are always people outside running, biking, etc.
Love living in the CWE. It's nice to be in a different neighborhood than school, while still being close.
Best neighborhood to live in, in St. Louis. Very safe and has plenty to do.
Closer to SLU’s campus than the CWE
The CWE is so varied, but this particular area is nicely residential. It’s right next to the Cathedral Basilica, so it’s usually quiet and there is 24-hour security on the block. It’s a 10-minute walk from the shopping/restaurant strip on Euclid, and about 20 minutes walking from the CWE metro station (but the nearest bus stop is just on the next block). Two blocks from Schnucks. The street itself is quite pretty, with nice buildings all around.
