Great Apartment

Comes with the basic amenities, relatively good location, and management has been pretty responsive. Haven't had any problems yet, and apartment is a nice space.

Cotton Mill Lofts

Very nice apartments depending on what floor you get. Some of the basement apartments have very small windows. Other than that it has been a good experience.

Great pied-a-terre in Roanoke

Nice spot, excellent management, spacious apartments. Very good value, especially if you are used to paying large-city prices.

Very tall ceilings, original hardwood floors.

This is an older building, so unfortunately not all angles are 90 degrees. Also, parking is just an outdoor lot - no covered parking which turns out to be a rarity in this area anyways. Oh well.

Finally, outward-facing units have enormous entire-wall ceiling-height factory windows. However, inner-facing units have smaller inside-facing windows that do not provide any view of the outdoors and therefore make for an extremely dark and gloomy apartment. Even in out-facing units, there is almost always a second bedroom that has no windows. Most of the integrated lighting in all units is very dim and sparse and insufficient to provide enough working light.

apt

generally i really enjoy living at cotton mill lofts.. my couple of complaints include limited/small parking spaces, thin walls, and not the best HVAC system. I do really like everything else about the apartment

Cotton Mill

Great floorplans, spacious and huge windows. High ceilings. Close to downtown, but very easy parking. Close to school. Pet-friendly. Floors can be squeaky (bc kept original flooring for industrial feel). Rent is on the higher side for this area, but worth it for me

Love it!

Pros:
-Family and pet friendly
-Very walkable to restaurants, coffee shops, downtown, parks, and the greenway
-Has a small gym and yoga room
-Has plenty of storage in the unit as well as indoor storage units for rent
-High ceilings and large windows make my unit feel bigger than it is
-Management and maintenance are friendly and responsive
-Quick, easy drive to school
-Feel safe in the building and around the neighborhood

Cons:
-Large windows can make it difficult to uniformly control temperature in the unit
-Occasional cell service problems, mostly when I'm in the gym which is in the basement of the building

Cotton Mill Lofts

The Cotton Mill Lofts are great! The building is an old cotton mill that was converted to loft apartments, so the units are very spacious with high ceilings and cool lofted areas. It is one of the more expensive apartment options, but is still a great value for the amount of space and amenities you get. Parking is convenient and included in rent, the basement gym is well-equipped and useful, and the management is very response to any needs. The basement units can be dark, but the ground level and upstairs units have amazing floor-to-ceiling windows and get great light. The building is located a few blocks from downtown so still very convenient but with a slightly more secluded and calm environment. Would highly recommend!
