Apartment with negligent landlord and pest issues

Landlord at this location allowed a rat problem to manifest and threatened to make the tenants pay if we did not kill the rats - we were on the third floor apartment and not responsible for the pests. Landlord did not allow even overnight guests and was discriminatory toward other religions. He seemed to be taking advantage of international students; all of his tenants were international and probably did not know about their tenant rights. When anybody tried to have a guest, he would try to extort payment for that stay. Moreover, he refused to fix even small issues such as a non-working stove. He constantly monitored his tenants and watched from his porch in mornings and nights to see what tenants were up to when they came and went. Lastly, even though he did not state it in his lease, he charged tenants $1 a day for AC. Terrible.
Living in squirrel hill (Murray Ave and Beacon St) was also not great. Even though the bus line was close, the buses were always full when they arrived at the stop and would often leave people behind because there was no more room. Many Carnegie Mellon students live there and use the buses, so it is not ideal for a University of Pittsburgh student, who would be last on the bus line's route.
