Overall rating 6.4/10, based on 34 renter reviews Write a review
Overall, comfortable
This building has passed through a couple of hands (ownership) recently, and just underwent renovations. Thus, it's a little overpriced as owner after owner takes over a complex that is demonstrably difficult to turn a profit on. The maintenance team is super responsive, and there is garage parking if you want to pay for it. The units a nice appearance, but I've helped build houses before and the 'glam' is mostly a facade - there are functional issues, albeit issues that can be lived with. For example, there are large swaths of rooms without an overhead light. Solution? Buy lamps. The apartment does not have central air, but instead has an individual unit. Since the unit is in the living room, and a wall separates the living room from the bedroom, the circulation at night is terrible. Solution? Buy a fan. The all-in-one washer/dryer makes clothes smell weird. Also, to learn how to use the washer/dryer without severely wrinkling your clothes takes a few tries. Overall, these are all issues that can be lived with, but, again, the complex is definitely overpriced.

Great Property, Terrible Landlord and Management
The location is fantastic, and the units are spacious and nice. The only problem is the landlord and property management company. My rent has gone up significantly since moving in, and I had significant issues with the management when my unit was not ready to move into for several weeks into the start of my lease.

Basic, overpriced
The apartments themselves have been recently updated and are nice enough. That being said, the quality is way out of line with the price of rent in my mind. You’re paying for proximity to campus.

Poolside Apartments
I really love my apartment. It's a good size, great location, and very comfortable and secure. That being said, the building was about five or six weeks late in being available for move-in, which left me on my own to find a place to stay until the unit was ready. In that time, the owner of the building had very poor communication (even misleading at times). Shortly after moving in, the building switched property management companies for unknown reasons.

Great Apartment, Sketchy Management
Poolside Apartments renovated the entire building during this previous summer, so all the apartments look brand new with granite countertops, new appliances, and vinyl floors throughout. For the price and the closeness to the law school, it is hard to beat. The downside of living here has been the very unreliable management. After being told we would be able to move in at the start of our leases in the middle of August, construction was not done on our building until halfway through September, which forced me and other law students to find other accommodations for the first 3-4 weeks of law school. The property owner was horrible with communication throughout the process. I have not had much trouble since and these circumstances will not exist next year, but it did not leave me with much trust in his ability to be of service in the future.

Great location
This apartment I picked solely for the location. My previous apartment was nicer but not as spacious.

Poolside Apartments
I really enjoy living here. The location is great and the rent is affordable. However, the property management company recently changed, and the building will be renovated this summer. Along with the renovations will come rent increases. I still plan to live here again, but moving out and back in and paying more will not be cool. Also note, despite the name, there is no pool.

Poolside Review
The location is great and I love that it has a parking garage and a relatively safe place for packages and mail (behind a door that uses a keypad). However, it is very easy to hear people through the walls, and the apartments seem old and outdated, although they are supposedly remodeling them very soon. The management company changed recently, and so far nothing about them compels me to recommend them or to not recommend them.

Old and Bad Management
The apartment itself is old but clean. There is definitely wear and tear, just like any other apartment that is as old as Poolside. The current management—Granite Student Living—is the main reason for the bad rating. They are unresponsive and jacked up the rates by almost $100 from the prior management company (CS Prop. Mgmt.). If you put in a maintenance request, you have to call the office to make sure they actually take care of it. They made a lot of promises that were never followed through on such as improving the parking garage. They are renovating the whole building during summer 2022 and plan to charge an exorbitant amount. I originally rented my 400 sq. ft. studio for $665, Granite raised my rent to $725, and once they redo my place they will rent it for $1000.

Great location
Poolside is an older building so it’s not perfect, but it’s super cozy and close to campus. The units are also quite spacious and they’ll be renovated for next fall. I am happy there and I already renewed my lease.
