Lincoln Hill Apartments

Probably a 7/10 generally but 8.5/10 in Bloomington. It's a good price and close to the law and optometry schools. Maintenance is good. Enough space to live comfortably for 1 person or a couple, but it might be a bit small for 2 roommates (though still doable). A small-ish Kroger is close and you can walk to downtown in 10-15 min. Central AC and heating. All electric. Old appliances but they function well enough I guess. New electronic keypads are nice.

Only viable Internet is Comcast, and it's pretty awful generally. Tours for the next year start to happen around September, so if you're not renewing, be prepared for many intrusions (with 24 hr notice). Laundry is in the complex but you have to go outside to get there (except for 5 apartments).

The unit is big and clean, yet cheap enough for one person to afford. Liberal pet and parking policies. Very little maintenance required.

My only complaint is they people always just walk into the apartment to do maintenance. They do warn you with emails, but unless you wake up at 7:00 am, you probably won't see it in time.

Last month, I was told that people would be coming in to clean my furnace. They emailed this to me 10 times before someone actually came to clean it.

Most other tenants are grad students and are relatively quiet. Lots of parking space.

The apartment is within walking distance to the law and optometry schools. It is easy to reach the leasing company easily and maintenance issues are usually fixed quickly. No guest parking but a block or so away has free street parking. The unit has central heating and air conditioning.

This property is a two bedroom, and they give a discount to single students if you tell them you are a law student. Parking in the lot out front, and the property management are very responsive with maintenance request. The only downside is that the walls are VERY thin, so if you are sensitive to noise and are unlucky enough to get a noisy neighbor you may struggle. Overall, the amenities are great for the price. The kitchen is very small, but not a problem for one person.

I’ve been here at Lincoln Hill for 2 years and they’ve been very good to me over at Grant Properties. Rent is manageable, and if you live in my apartment as just one person, the total rent is only $750. Good price, comfortable, only downside is there’s no dishwasher. Laundry is not in unit but is in the building. I have really no complaints.
