Pepper Building

We love living in the Pepper Building. Our corner unit has amazing views of the city out of our floor to ceiling windows, and an open concept with high ceilings which makes things very spacious. We have a doorman, which allows us to have packages received while we are at work during the day, a small gym in the basement that has everything we need, and the option to rent a storage unit in the basement to fit some of our seasonal stuff.

Didn’t hate it didn’t love it

Good building. Very little amenities besides the concierge desk and a tiny gym but it was easy to get to wharton because the bus stop was right outside the building. Bad billing system but the manager was always willing to meet and answer my questions.

Love the building, unsure of new property management.

I absolutely love my building. Location is a little far from Huntsman (about a 35-40 min walk), however the neighborhood is fabulous. Management company changed a few months ago, so it remains to be seen how things go. Alterra is working to complete major building updates including installing new boilers and fixing the facade. Maintenance is always quick to respond to requests.

Spacious apartment in a vibrant neighborhood

I like my apartment very much for its decent amenities and vibrant neighborhood. It has a tall ceiling, the windows in the living room are long and large, allowing much of the sunshine inside, and is quote spacious. There is a gym and a media centre. The neighborhood is quite away, say, from the Wharton bubble but it is close to a lot of really nice cafés and restaurants that I enjoy very much.

Great Location for School

I live here and go to school and everything has worked out well since starting school. Things are quiet and I never have to worry about not being able to study at home, even with my noisy pets and spouse. They always have something to do since we are close to everything we could ask for. I love this aspect of living here. In addition, if we want to go somewhere new, we are close to public transportation.

Love the Pepper Building!

The management here is amazing and very friendly. There is a great gym in the basement, as well as a bike storage room. Close to various bus lines, parks, restaurants, and bars. The building is also very pet friendly, and most people in the building have dogs. We love living here!

Perfect first apartment

My zen den has been an amazing first apartment. It may be small to some, but I have just enough space for myself, my cat, and friends. I love having my own washer/dryer, but I do wish I had hardwood floors and a garbage disposal. Everything else is great from the friendly greetings every single time I walk in, to the gym in the basement free to use at any time.

Dream Come true

I looked at a lot of places and was skeptical about renting in a high rise, but this was the best decision I ever made. The neighborhood is quiet the tenants are friendly. The facility is pet friendly. Great for any age. My apartment is spacious and is a place I love to call home.

Rittenhouse Square Reviews

Walnut street is very safe - there's always people around and it's well lit. The neighborhood includes all of the fun aspects of living in Philadelphia - tons of access to food and bars, nearby grocery stores/markets, access to the parks and the Schuylkill River Trail
Very close to fun restaurants/bars/shops. Close to the subway as well as the train station (suburban station).
Rittenhouse is the safest part of Philly. It's a very "happening" part of town—lots of restaurants and bars on every street. At the same time, it's right next to more residential neighborhoods to walk around in and explore. It's a great place to live relatively close to the law school but with a degree of separation so as not to get trapped in the law school bubble.
The neighborhood is both quiet and lively. There is so much around, but I have never had an issue sleeping or studying because there is too much noise. The broad street line is a 10-15 minute walk away and we are close to shopping, food, the park, and the river trail. Has everything within a 10-15 walk.
This neighborhood has everything I need within walking distance. Shops, grocery stores, parks, the subway and trolley, post office. You name it. It's very safe and extremely quiet, which helps when I'm trying to study. The Rittenhouse Square area is really the best place to live in Philly if you don't mind paying a little more.
I love this neighborhood and knew I wanted to live here when beginning my apartment search. The park is one of my favorite places in the city, and I love being able to easily access all the restaurants and shopping nearby. It's also an easy (~20 minute) walk to Penn Law, and the walking commute has always been a nice and peaceful part of my day.

Spruce Street in particular is great - it's a little south of the square, so is quieter/shielded from a lot of the traffic that the neighborhood gets, but it's not out of the way or far away. There's a Starbucks, a grocery store (Rittenhouse Market), and a few corner stores (Four Seasons and Food & Friends) within a 2-3 minute walk of my apartment.
Love the neighborhood, Rittenhouse Square is beautiful and we are so close to the more commercial areas like Walnut Street while not being in the center of the craziness. Plus we are within walking distance of public transportation including 10 minutes from the 15/16 street PATCO station. I personally think it is one of the best areas of Philly to live in.
Rittenhouse Square has a park in the center surrounded by a bookstores, restaurants, and a public library. It is open to pets and often has open art / food markets on the weekends. It is close to the Broad Street Line and PATCO. There are many families who live in the area. It is affordable compared to other major cities (NYC, DC, Boston), but there are certainly more affordable areas in Philadelphia, simply without the luxury of being so close to Center City.
