It is right on the line between the Upper West Side and Morningside Heights, so it has all the benefits of the UWS neighborhood with the prices of MoHi. Great bars and restaurants, very quiet, easily accessible by public transportation. The neighborhood has numerous parks-- Riverside Park, Morningside Park, Central Park-- and is great for pets, but the buildings are not necessarily as friendly for them.
I love this neighborhood as it's so quiet but has a great range of restaurants and bars. It's also very accessible to the subways and makes for an easy commute to school. There is also decent diversity thanks to a wide range on housing options, and a lot of families live in this neighborhood. It feels pretty safe overall.
The Upper West Side has plenty of bars/restaurants. Again, I'm close to Riverside and Central Park, so I get to exercise or walk in them whenever I please. West End Avenue is almost entirely residential, so it can be a bit quieter than living on Broadway/Amsterdam/Columbus; however, it's still quite close to all the restaurants and bars on those busier streets.
Spacious. Extremely easy and fast commute to Fordham Law. Relatively safe, but still need to be careful. Nice place to live if its your first time living in NYC since its on the quiet side. A bit far away from the nightlife and restaurants downtown, and almost impossible to get to the northeastern section of lower Manhattan by public transportation.
Very close to school! It’s quiet enough for sleeping. But there are also plenty of nice restaurants nearby when I want to go out.
Pros: Very neighborhoody-feeling, beautiful, peaceful, rent is slightly more affordable than downtown, great subway lines, close to both Central Park and Riverside Park, plus the Hudson River.

Cons: Restaurant options aren't great, tons of kids everywhere.
There is not much to say about the Upper West Side; I enjoy all the amenities of the area that the law school does. Law school is intense, but when I can escape my work, this area is a fantastic place to get to know.
Lots of good places to eat at various price points, plenty of bars and other things to do.
