More convenient than living in the city.
Living in the suburbs means I have a larger apartment for cheaper rent, a more modern apartment for the money, a parking lot, easy access to the highways, nice restaurants in the area, and only have a 10-15 minute drive to campus.
You can still enjoy your social life as well, as being near several major highways and interstates means getting into the heart of richmond is easy.
