Great Area but Not So Clean

Love the dog park and dog runs. Awesome area with plenty of restaurants and shops to walk to. Unfortunately, residents are very messy. Constantly see trash, dog poop, etc. all over the place. The apartment does not do a very good job with maintenance and cleaning. Elevator is constantly broken.

Young & Dog Friendly

Definitely a younger vibe going on here. Its a quick walk to all the best places in the shops. There are 6 pools here - you can utilize the other pools at Northside as well. The main pool can get kinda rowdy, so if you're not into the scene then I reccommend living on the other side. Phase V is legit, definitely my fave building but parking is a pain. It's the newest building with upgraded apts. Everyone and their mother has a dog so it's a great place for pets. However, there are no breed restrictions so I've seen a few aggressive breeds who actually are aggressive. Ive lived here for 3 yrs and I really love it. However, rent is rising through the roof because of all the new companies coming in. Get ready for uptown prices.

Not bad, but not for me. Poorly managed.

Moved in to split rent with a friend a few years back in a 2/2 apartment. Kitchens are small (although the included island prep table is a nice touch), finishings are one step above looking cheap, kitchen sink is shallow & cheap. Walk-in closets are *huge* and carpeted. Large tub w/shower, although the water pressure is lackluster.

The only internet or TV provider for the complex is AT&T UVerse, which is a BIG downside. This building-sanctioned monopoly is the perfect excuse for them to charge 50% to 100% more than competitors while also providing worse service. Case in point: we are paying $75/mo (their "special introductory rate") for 35mbps downstream / 3mbps upstream internet. No TV or phone. Just internet, and it comes with a 300gb/mo data cap. Even Time Warner Cable -- themselves part of the Imperial Elite -- offers their 50/5 internet-only service for $35/mo without data caps. If only I lived down the street.

The facility's trash compactor emits 8 *loud* beeps every time someone drops trash down the chute -- even at 2am. I live on the opposite side of the courtyard and 3 floors above the compactor, and I can clearly hear it in my bedroom with the doors & windows shut. Upon requesting these beeps be silenced during sleeping hours, I was informed that this was a safety feature which could not be disabled. Right.

Everyone always bitches about management in apt complex reviews -- often incorrectly -- but the management here truly is poor. Pick an apartment number and ask an office employee where that unit is in the complex. Not once has an employee been able to even approximate its location, and that's the fault of management. If renting apartments is your job, should this not be important to you? At the very least, there should be a map showing where each unit is located on their property, right?

Packages in the front office are a mess due to a perfect storm of office disorganization, tenant negligence, and USPS incompetence. USPS have admitted there is no rhyme or reason governing their decision to drop boxes in the mail room vs the front office. Thus, I have everything shipped to my office instead of my home. Annoying.

An electromagnet holding one of the hallway doors in the common area between apartments has been broken since I moved in, and I've submitted at least 8 service requests to have it fixed in the past 12 months. I've even printed my online ticket request and physically handed it to office staff on more than one occasion to no avail. A low-priority request, certainly, but surely it's an item which could be addressed at some point? At the very least, don't mark my tickets as complete when it's clear nothing was done.

All in all, Parkside isn't that bad, particularly if you enjoy the Highland Park-inspired social life but don't want to pay the ~$400/mo luxury tax to live in the Amli nearby.

Good Location, but poor quality apartments in all ways!

Apartments are poorly built. Kitchen is small, no space available - insufficient counter space, no storage space. You can hear very loud walking noise from the apartment above you. Same problem exists for people living downstairs. It shows the apartment were not well constructed. High rent for the quality of the apartment!
