Yikes

This apartment is tiny and I can't cook anything on my fake stove without it starting on fire. True story. One room with a tiny kitchen and a bathroom gets really hot - it is like a sauna. Shower leaks, the whole room is really hot, and the pipes in the wall sound like they are going to explode. Also the internet stinks.

Great apartment

The Congressional is in a fantastic location- right next to the Supreme Court building. It's not the perfect living arrangement for three girls, but we manage. Small cooking space and bathroom, but like I said, you make do. Plenty of drawers, but not a lot of hanging space. Wi-Fi is generally OK, but it can be a struggle if you want to watch Netflix after 5 p.m. Free laundry too.

Dream Spot

At the Congressional, you can't beat the location. I walk out of my building, look to the left and see the Capitol - it's beautiful. However, the building itself is ancient and tiny. The rooms are more like closets. While the semi-updated kitchen (dishwasher and countertop stove) is appreciated, it's really just enough to scrape by. The bathroom is so small and outdated - almost impossible to keep clean. And really, to share the space with someone is much less than ideal. If I were to go through the housing process again, I would find something - maybe not as close to Capitol Hill - with more space and amenities and less money.

Getting around Capitol Hill

Capitol Hill Reviews

11 reviews
Quiet but very nice. Lots of young families. Decent restaurant selection. Not a lot of nightlife (besides 8th St SE which is a slightly older crowd). Generally go to U St / Dupont Circle / Adams Morgan area to go to bars, 20 to 30 minute uber (3-4 slow city miles). Decent metro access (silver, orange, blue, and red) and access to Union Station (Amtrak and buses). Close to National Mall and somewhat close to Nationals Park for baseball games. Commute to McLean HQ building is a 45 minute metro ride from Capitol South on the Silver Line. Driving w/ minimal traffic is 25 mins to office. Driving w/ bad traffic (usually in afternoons) is 1 hour.
Amazing neighborhood that doesn't feel like its in a big city while being within walking distance to heart of DC. It's a fun and safe neighborhood to be in!
I love Capitol Hill. It's close to Eastern Market, easy access to two different Metro stops, and there is great food everywhere!
Far from school and people who live NW, but gorgeous area, lots of restaurants and bars and young people, right by the Capitol, Library of Congress, and Supreme Court.
Have you been to Capitol Hill near Lincoln Park? That's a 10/10, Skippy!
Friendly, lots of dogs, cute coffee shops, great farmer's market.
It's an excellent, safe neighborhood with plenty of families. While it's not the most exciting neighborhood in the city, it's within walking distance of plenty of bars and restaurants.
A great neighborhood right in the heart of Capitol Hill. Not much night life or young crowds but incredibly charming and great for dining out or brunch.
