Pretty Good

This apartment has been pretty good for my wife and I. Although the bike stations that are in the garage are a joke and over crowded. My wife had her bike stolen from here and the cameras were not even looking at the door or the bike stands... So not great security.

Great Location, that's about it.

For $1,450 you get one of the smaller 2 bedroom/ 2 bathrooms; internet is included but it's spotty (wireless router is not included); Parking is not included- about $100 a month. water and sewer are billed on your rent bill. electric is on your own. cable is on your own. Dog bags are never full. Coffee runs out. the "grill" is never taken care of. But it is a good location. The maintenance guy is responsive.

Getting around Shockoe Bottom

Shockoe Bottom Reviews

9 reviews
Shockoe Bottom has a decent restaurant/bar scene as well as some clubs. It's close to downtown so if you're working there it's a good option. Rent is getting steeper as more investment is made in the surrounding communities so that's worth watching. There's only one (overpriced) grocery store nearby and public transportation leaves a lot to be desired but that's supposedly changing. The area has a ton of character and the flip side to more investment in the area is greater amenities.
I don't venture out much because of COVID, but I know there's a bookstore nearby and some local restaurants (it's also right across the street from a Buffalo Wild Wings). I think I'll enjoy living in downtown a lot more when it's safe to go to the bars and stuff again.
It artsy
Near a lot of restaurants, bars, and green space. Good for young professionals.
Good.
The neighborhood is close to the medical campus for VCU which is great for my roommate being a dental student. one block from a farm fresh and numerous little restaurants within walking distance. One con is the train down there is loud but I have gotten used to it and it doesnt wake me up.
Lots of young people around. bars/restaurants/parks nearby
Parking is awful, but the cultural/social/restaurant/bar and club scene is amazing.
